NFL Hits, Shohei Ohtani  And Save Water, Drink Beer!

EL BARRIO, EL FALLS  –  I got more notice this week than I did last week. However, I have been back to doing some serious work for our sister site, rugbywrap.com. By the way, isn’t it sexist to say sister site and not sibling site? Anyway lets get to the another wonderful piece by me, using  the tried-and-true formula of a Song of the Week, followed by Sports Stuff. Here is what is on the menu for today’s Stuff:  NFL Hits, Shohei Ohtani  & Save Water, Drink Beer!

Song of the Week:  I have no reason for this song but there needed to be a positive song.  It has just been an ugly week in sports, politics and current events. Let us have some music that doesn’t make you angry about life. So with that said, I chose a classic feel good song. It is Love Train by The O’Jays.  I think it is the right song for right now.

NFL Hits: Somebody is gonna have to die out there. I am mostly enraged by Gronkowski’s cheap shot. How is that cheap shot worth only a game!! It continues to make a joke of the player welfare talk and serious, if he got 1 game for that shot and JuJu Schuster got a game for a very hard block with a little taunting, what is the point. You had other games with linebackers looking like they are rolling while holding the leg to cause injury. It is not the violence that bothers me it is the hypocrisy of claiming to care about player welfare the ignoring it completely depending on the victim and assailant.

Shohei Ohtani: So our local Yankees fan Buddy Diaz got his panties in a bunch that Ohtani snubbed the Yankees for his choice of a small market team on the west coast. Ohtani chose the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim which is not small market but it is. They are second fiddle in LA because they are not really LA, they are Anaheim, so he get his small market but near a big city with a strong Japanese community. I wish the best for the Japanese Babe Ruth, I am actually excited to see if he can be the DH and pitcher. As for the Yankees, they are consoling themselves with an attempt to buy Giancarlo Stanton. Poor schlubs, life is so hard, they now have to light their cigars with the crisp 100 dollars bills since they have used all the wrinkled ones.

Save Water, Drink Beer!: I know you guys aren’t rugby guys but I heard a funny story. The World Rugby 7s circuit has a stop in Cape Town this weekend. Unfortunately Cape Town is in the middle of a drought so they have asked fans to stay hydrated but when possible to drink beer and not water because the water is needed for the people to use in their homes. Don’t threaten me with a good time. I do my part for water conservation every weekend, no questions asked.
