Ebs’ March Madness Hot Takes: Syracuse, North Carolina, Arizona, Villanova

WEST PITTSTON, PA – Raise your hand if you have a gripe with Syracuse making the NCAA Tournament.

Wow. That’s a lot of you.

Look, I hear your concerns.

There are a lot of reasons Syracuse was the last team in. However, the Orange have a better resume than both Arizona State and Oklahoma. So there’s that.

But who are you putting in over the Orange?

An 18-win Baylor squad? Stop. Eighteen wins.

Saint Mary’s? Sure, they were 28-4 and beat Gonzaga on the road, but that’s it. Syracuse beat Clemson and Virginia Tech and both Miami and Louisville on the road.

Louisville? See Saint Mary’s.

Notre Dame? Sure they played most of the season without Bonzie Colson but even with their star in the lineup, the Irish have some bad losses.

I think you get my point.

Time for some March Madness hawt taeks.

Enjoy.

Syracuse wins at least two games. Yup. Might as well just go all in, right?

Arizona State and TCU line up perfectly for the Orange. The Sun Devils are in a tailspin, losing five of their last six games and it sets up perfectly for Syracuse.

The Orange will be playing closer to home – at least compared to ASU – too.

Then against TCU, while Jamie Dixon will certainly be prepared for that 2-3 zone, the Horned Frogs, like Arizona Stat,e have struggled of late. TCU lost six of its final 12 games.

It’ll be a struggle for a Syracuse team that mostly plays six guys, but at this point, the Orange are going for broke. They weren’t even supposed to be here in the first place.

A No. 1 seed won’t reach the Final Four. This year’s bracket is loaded with under-seeded teams.

North Carolina, Duke, Purdue, Michigan State and Arizona all have legitimate cases to be No. 1 seeds. Filled with tons of talent, there are paths for each team to the Final Four.

Both Kansas and Villanova will be Elite Eight-bound, but Virginia has a tough draw in Arizona in the Sweet 16 while Xavier is likely over-seeded.

Arizona has enough talent to penetrate Virginia’s talented defense and Gonzaga will be a tough out for the Mountaineers.

The Wildcats could turn some heads too.

North Carolina repeats. As a Syracuse fan, I’ve watched a fair share of North Carolina this year.

While the Tar Heels lost to Virginia in the ACC Tournament final, North Carolina has so much talent and plays great team basketball. It’s a veteran group that knows what it takes to win it all.

However, watch out for Michigan. The Wolverines are one of the hottest teams in the country.

Final Four: North Carolina over Arizona. Purdue over Duke. North Carolina takes down Purdue in a No. 2 vs. No. 2 matchup to cut down the nets once again.
