Most Interesting Golfer In The World, Mike Tyson Comeback, Hero & Villain of the Week

World’s Most Interesting Golfer

GULLANE, SCOTLAND – In the hallowed birthplace of the “sport” of Golf (yes it is a sport by definition), we start off this week’s Preacher’s Row by taking a closer look at Spaniard Miguel Angel Jimenez, the current leader after Round 2 of the 2013 Open Championship.

At the spry ole’ age of 49, Jimenez is set to become the oldest major champion in history.  AND…he’s the “Most Interesting Golfer in the World.”  Cue the Dos Equis music and bring on the babes!!!  If you thought Tiger Woods and his sexcapades were interesting, along with his estimated $40 million in endorsements PER YEAR, just take a gander at “El Lobo” Jimenez

First, to start off his day, Jimenez goes through a very unique stretching routine that rivals Short Matt’s ballerina knee raises before pitching at a Harlem Shasky’s game.  Take a look!

Second, his after round routine consists of walking around in his handmade Italian leather golf shoes wearing aviator sunglasses, smoking a Cuban cigar, carrying a bottle of wine and hitting on every young Scottish girl that crosses his path.  HOW COOL IS THAT!?  Cue the Dos Equis music again!  Oh and did I mention that he skis Black Diamond courses and drives a Ferrari?!

Fellow competitor Keegan Bradley remarked “Maybe he IS the coolest man alive.”

Maybe he is, and maybe he’ll make the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine after a win here at Muirfield.  We’ll see.  Round 3 picks up at 3am ET Saturday…

tysonMoving on to a much more contact-friendly sport – Boxing.  Mike Tyson just signed a deal with Acquinity Sports (now renamed Iron Mike Productions) to re-enter the Boxing ring, as a Promoter.

This is just the latest reinvention of Iron Mike who has successfully turned his once infamous life into a reinvention that even Madonna would be proud of.  Tyson also recently signed with HBO for a Spike Lee-produced rendition of Mike’s “One Man Show” titled:  “Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth.”  Add to that his recent roles in the first two “Hangover” movies, his stint on Law & Order SVU, and we have an undisputed comeback for this once maligned and ridiculed World Heavyweight Boxing Champion.

So, what have we learned so far boys and girls from this week’s Preacher’s Row?  That even though you might be considered over the hill and a little eccentric, and even though you may have taken a bite out of the competition (so to speak), you can always make it back to the top.  And…now its time for the Hero and Villain of the Week!

Hero of the Week: Mike Tyson

For making a heck of a comeback. ‘Nuff said.

Villain of the Week: Yoenis Cespedes

For being benched tonight not able to play for the Oakland A’s opener against the Los Angeles Angels due to a “sore” wrist, after hitting 32 homers in the Home Run Derby.  Seriously?!

Well that’s all for Preacher’s Row today, be safe, be kind, and stay tuned for Cheesy Bruin tomorrow.
