Angrier Ward Saturday: Late, Late, Late Edition

BRONX, NY – You know what I hate more than anything about this site? Do you? It’s when I post a column late on a Saturday morning because it’s approaching noon and nothing is up, then something finally gets posted right after I take the time to fill the void… THEN, when I finally take a Saturday morning and assume something will eventually go up and it DOESN’T. I truly hate that.

It’s 7pm and the anger is boiling. Minnesota is losing to Iowa on the road late, the Columbia Lions got waxed at home by Brown (I was there for a half), and management doesn’t care that the lights are out in the store. Nevertheless, I’ll press on.

It’s holiday movie time, and I’m going to cue something up this evening. Already watched Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, the Thanksgiving classic. I’m thinking it’s time again for Trading Places, which spans Thanksgiving through New Year’s and features lots of hilarious scenes, but none funnier than Billy Ray Valentine kicking a busty (and willing) lady out of his bed. Last night I watched Scrooged, which has grown on me over the years. David Johansen, is particularly great… Carol Kane too.

There’s nothing on the sports landscape tonight that really interests me. Hey, got any under-the-radar holiday movies you like? Please share. Not that anyone is reading at this hour… or any hour.

Come back tomorrow for CheesyBruin’s loony NFL picks.

About Angry Ward 744 Articles
Angry Ward, who has admirers at the New York Times, is the quintessential angry sports fan but for one exception... he's flat-out funny. And the angrier he gets, the more amusing his work becomes. Psychiatrists say, "Angry Ward's 'anger' is a direct result of "Bronx/Mets syndrome: growing up in the Bronx as a Mets fan." As if that weren't enough, his Minnesota North Stars abandoned him for Dallas, forcing him to embrace The Wild the way Nancy Pelosi embraces Mitch McConnell at charity events. And while his Vikings only tease him with success, his Golden State Warriors actually win these days. A-Dubya is MTM's longest-tenured indentured servant, its Larry David and quite simply, "The Franchise." (Junoir Blaber disputes this). Vent, curse and giggle with him on Angry Ward Wednesdays.
