Sports Rain Man: Mets Season Over, Jets and Giants win

EL BARRIO, EL FALLSHappy Monday Everybody!  I am trying to take a break from my Buffalo bashing for this week. As I type, the Mets are down 4-0 in the 7th inning. By the time I finished, they were finished… for the season.  Anyway, here are the topics for today: Mets Season Over, Jets and Giants win.

Mets Season Over

It was all good just two weeks ago. The Mets were leading the NL East and looked like they would win it. Now its over. They lost the Wild Card series to Los Padres. The Mets just seem to run out of steam towards the end. They spent all their energy getting swept by the Braves. They then managed to go 3-20 or something like with runners in scoring position in the series against the Padres. Ace 1, Max Scherzer, pitched horribly. No bats supported him. They folded. They bounced back in game 2, thanks to Jacob deGrom and the bats finally waking up. However, in game 3,  Joe Musgrove stepped up Chris Bassitt fell down the stair. Bassitt gave up 3, the pen gave up 4, and the Mets bats went quietly into the night. Literally after 7 innings there was 1 hit.

I hope the Mets administration turns this into a sort of thing that allows them to be competitive for the next few seasons, like the 85-88 Mets.

Jets Win

Junoir Blaber: Jet Fan

Angry Ward used to complain about how horrible the Mets medical staff was as players kept getting injured. Apparently the Miami Dolphins staff is worse. They let Tua Tagovailoa go out and play 4 days after a concussion. The back-up QB, Teddy Bridgewater, got dumped hard on the turf, slamming his head in the first drive against the NY Jets. The doctor said he passed his concussion test but the NFL neutral judge – the ATC – saw Teddy stumble a bit and said he was done. With no Bridgewater, Miami rookie Skyler Thompson was up and the J-E-T-S feasted. The defense caused lots of trouble and though it took til the 4th quarter for the Jets pull away. Gang Green went on to win 40-17. This was their second win with Zach Wilson under center and somehow the Jets are 3-2.

Giants Win

If the Jets sitting at 3-2 is a shock, the Giants are 4-1 and lead the NFC East. Now, we all know that this is the equivalent of a elephant in a tree. No one knows how it got there but we know it won’t be there for long. The Giants somehow beat the Green Bay Packers in London. The Pack were the favorites but the Jints kept it close with the rare combo of running the ball well and playing good defense. It was the defense that won the game as they stopped the Pack on downs when Green Bay was at the Giant 15 with a 1st and 10. It may not last but full credit while it does.

Thanks for reading and feel free to comment below. Come back tomorrow for Ben Whitney, who will recap future Super Bowl winning Giants.
