PORT JEFF, NY- Greetings and Happy Thanksgiving Weekend to you all! Lets get right into it two topics I’v been sitting on since last week: NFL’s New Powerhouse, Revisiting The Mets Trading Nimmo.
NFL’s New Powerhouse
The powerhouses that have reigned supreme over the last decade or so look far more vulnerable then they have in years past. The Chiefs sit at 6-6 following their loss to the Cowboys, which almost certainly forces them to win out, along with getting some help to make the playoffs. Even if they do get in, this team just hasn’t looked like itself all year.
Then there’s the defending champs. While still maintaining a safe lead in the NFC East, the Eagles might be the league’s most puzzling team. Since adding Jalen Phillips at the deadline the defense has been the best in football, however the offense as it has all season has been well below average. This team cannot run the football at the moment. Following his historical 2024 campaign Saquon Barkley hasn’t looked good for almost all of 2025. Barkley’s lacked explosion and has just one game above 100 rushing yards. I’m not sure what the answer to this team’s issues are, but I’m not confident in saying they’ll get things figured out in time for another Super Bowl run.
Then there are the surprises…
The Broncos, Patriots and Colts of the world. All of whom have their issues and have struggled at points throughout the season.
The AFC in particular, is incredibly wide open. The Bills have shown flashes of brilliance but can’t seem to string it together for multiple weeks at a time… The same can be said for the Chargers, who haven’t been the same since losing star tackle Joe Alt… Then there’s the Lamar Jackson and the Ravens, who haven’t looked good since he returned from injury… Truly, about 6 or 7 teams could win the AFC and none of them would surprise me.
One team that is head and shoulders above at this point is the Rams. Coming into 2025 there were questions as to whether or not Matt Stafford would make it through the whole season after missing most of training camp with a back injury. As it turned out that didn’t matter at all. Stafford is in the midst of his best season as a pro and is currently the betting favorite to win MVP. The addition of Davante Adams and the continued ascension of Puka Nacua has made this offense the most potent in the NFL. On the defensive side of the ball, the Rams also posses maybe the best unit in football. As it stands right now the Rams are far and away the best team in football and are the clear favorites to win the NFC.
Revisiting The Mets Trading Nimmo.

Unless you live under a rock, you are aware of the stunning trade of the Mets’ Brandon Nimmo to the Rangers for Marcus Semien. Nearly one week removed from when this deal was announced, I still don’t quite understand the thought process behind this trade.
Nimmo has been one of this teams best players since he arrived here in 2016 and remained extremely productive in 2025. While his defense has become somewhat of a liability over the last few years, I still believe he’s a valuable player on and off the field. After the disappointing end to the 2025 season, I knew there would be some big changes, however, it never crossed my mind that the Mets would deal away its longest tenured player.
The return for Nimmo – on the surface – makes this deal even more strange. Semien was once one of the best players in baseball in every facet of the game. While he’s still one of the best defenders in the game, Semien’s bat has greatly diminished over the past two seasons with a sub .700 OPS in each year. There will undoubtedly be many more moves this team makes this offseason, but I struggle to see why this was a necessary move to make.
That’s it for me, feel free to leave your thoughts below and come back tomorrow for Sports Rain Man, Junoir Blaber.
