Grinding Ax Sunday – FREE NFL Picks, Week 17 News & Notes

FREEHOLD, NJ-  After last week’s 9-0 record and a heart procedure on Thursday, I head into the New Year on a winning streak. NFL week seventeen will be make or break time for the teams still in the hunt for a playoff spot. This unfortunately does not include the teams from New York, as the Giants and Jets will try to achieve ten wins collectively. But let’s not dwell on those perennial losers… It’s time for my FREE NFL Picks, Week 17 News & Notes [fire canon]

Grinding Ax Walt

The Philadelphia Eagles control their own destiny and travel to play the free-falling Washington Football Team.  Football Team is coming off a damaging beat down in Big D where they were so frustrated that they started beating each other up on the sidelines. The Iggles dismantled Big Blew and kept their playoff hopes going.  Jalen Hurts has been improving week by week and will count on Devonte Smith, Boston Scott and Kenny Gainwell to wear down the depleted WFT defense. This should be a walk… Eagles 28 Football Team 17

Sweet Revenge

Ryan Tannehill would love to break his former team’s winning streak. When Dolphins coach Brian Flores arrived in Miami , he immediately kicked Tannehill to the curb. Sweet Revenge will come in a close contest as the Tennessee Titans will combine a commitment to run along with utilizing AJ Brown via the air. Tua Tagovailoa has Jaylen Waddle, Devante Parker and Mike Gesicki along with an energized Duke Johnson to battle a strong Titans defense. Should be a close one… Titans 24 Dolphins 21

Historic Vikings photo

Angry Ward is just going to be angrier, as his Minnesota Vikings match up against the NFC’s #1 seed Green Bay Packers. Unfortunately for the Vikings, the Pack needs the win to remain in the lead for a bye and home field advantage . Kirk Cousins has #COVID and will miss this game.  Not much to say here other than Dalvin Cook must have an epic game and Aaron Rodgers must have his worst game ever. [Really] Small Matt has a better chance of growing hair than the Vikings have in this one… Packers 31 Vikings 14

Parsons is coming… or is he just breathing heavy?

Kyler Murray is undefeated at AT&T Stadium and the Cowboys know it. The Cardinals are heading in the wrong direction as they head into the playoffs, though. It’s not just Murray that is limping into this game. St Louis Phoenix Arizona will again be playing without star receiver DeAndre Hopkins, who remains on the IR list. Murray will have to use his legs against a very fast Dallas defense, led by the NFL’s best rookie – Micah Parsons. While the focus will be on Murray and Parsons, this game comes down to Dak Prescott’s ability to beat a decent defense. Will he use his legs to gain a needed first down or will he cave under pressure?  This game has upset written all over it, but I will bet my delusion that this may be the year that the Cowboys click going into the playoffs… Dallas 31 Cardinals 27

Here are some of my other picks:
Steelers 24 Browns 21
Chiefs 38 Bengals 28
Panthers 17 Saints 14
Chargers 24 Broncos 14

Chime in with your delusional opinions and stop back tomorrow for Junoir Blaber who still does not know why he continues to write about NY’s football teams.

RIP to NFL Legends John Madden and Dan Reeves… On a personal note, it’s been three years since we lost one of my favorite cousins, Brian Boucher, who was one of the funniest guys that you would ever meet.
