NIAGARA FALLS, NY – Happy Monday! I decided to take a break from the weekly update of the Mets, assuming someone will tell you how things are going. If not, the answer is meh! They are a .500 ball squad and can’t get hot enough to go on a 6+ game winning streak. Anyway, enough of that. Let’s look at today’s menu: It’s 1994 in NYC Again, Knicks v Pacers, Rangers Go To Game 5.
It’s 1994 in NYC Again
Outside of the Sternberg Wonder Twins, This is a an old group of writers, even Buddy Diaz is in his 30s or so. There are those of us who remember 1994 clearly. I don’t have a girlfriend from that era to bring up like Big Ben Whitney, but I do remember how it was going into the end of my sophomore year and the city was electric. The Knicks and Rangers were both in the playoffs and looking like they would be really hard to beat. People were talking about both teams ending their decades long championship drought. I was watching the highlights of the Knicks going 2-0 up on Indiana and then the Rangers going 3-0 up on Carolina. I started thinking about both teams winning it all. There is no guarantee both teams will but I imagine the city must be electric right now. I wish I was there but alas, I am stuck here, enjoying the clean country air of Niagara Falls.
Knicks v Pacers
The Knicks fell flat on Sunday to Indiana. The Pacers won game 3 in close one. It seemed like all the games were close and came down to a a couple of possessions in the 4th quarter. However in game 4 on Sunday, Indiana came out hot out of the gate and blew out the Knicks. Beleive it or not, I am fine with this as a Knicks fan. A blowout like this means that the stars Brunson, DiVincenzo and Hart got a break on minutes. Thom Thibodeau has been having these guys play 42-45 minutes each game. With injuries to OG Anounby and Mitchell Robinson, along with Bogdan Bogdanovic, the Knicks have had to use Alec Burks and Jericho Sims while giving Precious Achiuwa more game time. This game will count as a reset and refresh for the big 3 and give the Knicks a big win in NYC in game 5.
Rangers Go To Game 5
The Rangers are 3-1 up in the series. They were up 3-0 after winning two back to back overtime games. Game 2 was a real thriller as it went to two overtimes before Vinny Trocek Trocheck scored the winner, while Game 3 was over a minute and half into it courtesy of the Artemi “The Breadman” Panarin. In Game 4, the Rangers came back twice to tie the game but the Canes finally got one by Igor Shisterkin Shesterkin late in the 3rd period to secure their win. The Rangers can still close out the serious back in NYC for game 5 and if they can do that, it would be best because game 6 in Carolina would be a scary proposition.
Thanks for reading and come tomorrow to hear from the Ben Whitney who was 21 in 1994.
