NOTE FROM MANAGEMENT: Again, Yankees fan Buddy Diaz ignores the Mets. Feel free to voice your displeasure – with civility.
SPANISH HARLEM – New York Yankees fans rejoice as they take a 2-0 lead on the Cleveland Guardians… The Mets are back at vs the Los Angeles Dodgers after getting routed last night… The Knickerbockers on the other hand still have one more game before the regular season starts. Let’s discuss some Yankees and Knicks News.
Yankees Take Both Games at Home
Yankees fans finally got the hit they were waiting for from Aaron Judge, with a two-run homer to give the Yankees a cushion and 6-3 win on Tuesday. It was pure misery hearing the broadcasters mention his hitting woes in the playoffs. He is certainly not out of the woods yet and that noise will continue to get worse if he doesn’t produce in Cleveland.
At best you want a sweep but, in the end, you’re happy if they take one game. You certainly don’t have to come back to Yankees Stadium tied in the series, so it will be important to score runs early and often to keep those fans out of the game. We saw some big hits from the Yankees with men on base and we need more of that, so they don’t have to rely on the long ball.
Knicks Stay Undefeated in the Preseason
I know nobody cares about the preseason and it’s really about building chemistry… BUT it’s still okay to be excited. The starters were kept out of the lineup on Tuesday, yet the Knicks still won to remain undefeated for the preseason. Second round draft pick, Tyler Kolek, who has already become a fan favorite, almost had a triple double and the Knicks only first round pick, Pacôme Dadiet saw his first action of the preseason scoring 16 points.
Last Knicks’ Pick, Ariel Hukporti was another surprise, given that many thought he would be an afterthought for the rotation. It seems now he may get back up minutes at center, possibly taking the time that was destined for Jericho Sims. All in all, you hope the Knicks stay healthy, as we should see a return of the starters for the final game of the preseason on Friday. I would definitely expect to see a sizable number of minutes for the starters, and it should also give us a good idea of the sub rotation Tom Thibodeau will be using against the Boston Celtics on opening night, October 22nd.
That’s it for now, please come back tomorrow for Action Jackson Sternberg.
