Chiefs and Ravens Make Statements, Another Stunning Retirement

PORT JEFF, NY – I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas, but we have more important things to discuss: Chiefs and Ravens Make Statements, Another Stunning Retirement

Chiefs Make A Statement

Much has been said about how the Chiefs have won this year, but wins are wins. On Christmas Day, there was no doubt who the better team was. Even though the Steelers had lost three in row, going on the road in the NFL is a tough task. The final score sometimes does not always tell the story, but on Wednesday it did. The Chiefs are still the best team in the AFC, and the Steelers’ late-season problems were on full display once.

Ravens Make A Statement

This game was over by halftime. The Ravens and Texans met in the nightcap on Christmas, and the better team won. Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry ran all over Houston a 31- 2 rout, which saw CJ Stroud struggle once again. It’s hard to fault Stroud with so many injuries on the offensive line and to emerging wide receiver Tank Dell. The Ravens have seemingly hit their stride at the right time and should challenge anyone they play in the postseason.

Another Stunning Retirement

Yesterday, it was announced that Miami head coach Jim Larranaga will step down immediately. The college basketball world has seen many legendary coaches retire in the last 3-4 seasons: Jay Wright at Villanova, Tony Bennett at Virginia, and now Larranaga at Miami. Although it may be a bit early to speculate re his replacement, let’s give it a shot. Just last year, the coaching carousel was by much uncertainty in this new NIL and transfer portal landscape. A few that come to mind Will Wade currently at McNeese State. Wade is an outstanding recruiter, and with the resources at a place like Miami, who knows how great he can be? Another candidate could be the son of Hall of Famer Rick Pitino, Richard Pitino, who is currently at New Mexico. The Lobos have been a solid program for a while, but like smaller programs, they cannot afford to hand out millions of through the portal. As I previously mentioned, Miami has unlimited resources, and with how quickly you can “buy” a team nowadays, it shouldn’t be before the ‘U’ is back.
