Sports Rain Man: NY Rangers Update, NFL NY Recap

Niagara Falls, NYHappy Monday!! A full recap of the week coming up. On the menu today, we will be looking at the Jets’ loss to the Panthers, the week for the New York Rangers, and we’ll talk some soccer with Manchester United versus Liverpool.

NY Jets

Man, this Jets offense is struggling. They went another game without scoring a touchdown, and they haven’t found the end zone since Week 5. The defense stepped up again, holding the Panthers to 13 points, but the Jets offense could only put up six.

Head coach A-Aron Glenn made a substitution at halftime, taking Justin Fields off for Tyrod Taylor, which seemed to get the offense going somewhat. But Taylor still threw interceptions that stalled things out.

They have one more game against the Cincinnati Bengals before the bye week, and I don’t know what’s going to happen. We all know the season’s over; it’s just a wonder how many games they’ll win and if maybe they’ll finish with a flurry so you can see that they still believe in the coach and the system he’s using.

NY Rangers

It was a rough week for the Rangers, to put it lightly. They lost Sunday night to the Capitals 1-0. They lost Tuesday night to the Oilers 2-0. They lost Thursday night to the Leafs 2-1 in overtime. And they didn’t get a win until Saturday night against the Montreal Canadiens. That was the first time the offense looked like its old self winning 4-1.

There’s been some changes to the lineup and the lines, so it’s not going to be a smooth start. But man, the offense seems to be inconsistent. When it’s working, it pours; when it’s not, they seem unable to squeeze out a goal or two to grind out a win.

It’s still early days, so no need to panic, but they need to get their act together.

Manchester United vs. Liverpool

You know, to a Yankee fan, they would tell you that the Mets are a rival as they share a city, but their greatest rivals are still the Boston Red Sox. That’s how it feels as a Manchester United fan. Manchester City is the current powerhouse, but the team we still see as our true rival is Liverpool.

Liverpool dominated United for a long time, until United overtook them for most trophies won in English football. Liverpool is still chasing to take that back.

So in the derby match today, United had been on a an inconsistent run of win loss win. Unable to win two games in a row. While Liverpool had lost three straight. Liverpool was looking for some home cooking, but Manchester United shocked everybody and pulled off a 2-1 win.

It felt good. It was probably the highlight of the day, especially after thinking about how I knew my Jets were going to find a way to disappoint. Liverpool now has to figure out what to do after losing four straight, and Manchester United has to be able to build on this and see how they can tweak things to keep winning.

Come back tomorrow the much more prompt, Ben Whitney. Feel free to comment down below
