Manny Being Manny! Manny Ramirez Wants To Work For You

Manny Ramirez, Aristotle Sakellaridis, Meet The Matts

NEW YORK, NY – One of the best right handed sluggers in the history of the game has put out the word that he is looking for a coaching position with a Major League club.

Manny Ramirez wants to be a hitting coach for anyone that calls him. The problem is nobody’s calling. The legendary RBI machine can’t even get a job interview. What’s really sad is the morons who are doing the hiring know nothing about Manny’s work ethic. He was known to show up to the ballpark hours before his reporting time, where he would turn into the ultimate cage rat. Manny was probably the best hitting instructor that his teammates ever had. When Manny talked hitting, they listened.

When Manny’s former team, the Boston Red Sox, were looking for a batting coach, they teased him with the possibility of an opportunity. Instead they hired a guy from Driveline, a so-called baseball skills factory that has ruined many swings, and even more arms with its ANALytical approach to hit for power and throwing the ball faster.

The Driveline hire was added to the trio of hitting coaches the Red Sox employ, who have a total of zero at bats in the pro level.

The geeks that do these hirings, who go by the philosophy that batting average along with strikeouts don’t matter, need to look beyond Manny’s dreadlocks. If they are intimidated by an ex-pro who’s been there, done that, then they need to grow some integrity and come to the conclusion that they contribute nothing to the team. These geeks are like cops that don’t respond to a crisis, or a fireman who ignores an alarm. The owners need to wake up and clean house.

A few years ago, the legendary David Cone was interested in the N.Y. Yankees pitching coach job. It seemed like he was over-qualified with the great career he had. The job went to Matt Blake, who’s only talent is covering his mouth during mound visits.

A hidden talent in a coach is getting thru to a player. Back in 2008 when Manny was 36 years old, he was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers with two months left in the season. He simply dominated National League pitchers. I ran into Dodgers catcher Russell Martin at the time and asked him how Manny was in the clubhouse. Martin responded, “Manny taught us all how to have fun, the way he played showed us that we all grew up playing baseball for fun.”

As for Manny Being Manny, with his 555 career home runs, keep posting your hitting tips on Instagram cause I’m surely benefiting from them whenever I step up to the plate against these youngsters I compete against.
