MTM Hot Takes: Tom Brady’s Guilty And More

ON THE SIDELINES AT SOME LACROSSE GAME, SOMEWHERE – It’s been a wild and crazy week, and Pats Toonthere’s plenty to talk about.

From LeBron James’ game-winner to Tom Brady’s looming suspension… Let’s get started!

Hot Take: Tom Brady will be suspended. I understand I’m late to the train here at MTM (Junior touched on Deflate-Gate) but I’m not looking at whether Tom Brady and the New England Patriots are guilty or not. I’m looking at the length of suspension Pretty Boy Tom is facing.

This is no longer a matter of if Brady will receive a suspension or not, but for how long it should be.

The rumors floating around right now have Brady serving a two-four game suspension, but I believe the suspension will be longer. Roger Goodell has to send a message to this league, or he will lose all of his power.

Nothing less than eight games is enough.

This isn’t just about the deflation of footballs. Brady didn’t cooperate during the investigation either. Whatever suspension the “reigning Super Bowl champ” would have received will be doubled.

Tom, you’re better off coming clean. Stop letting Dougie Spoons take

the fall!

Hot Take: LeBron James is still The King. “To be honest, the play that was drawn up, I scratched it,” James said about the last shot in his postgame press conference after the game. “I just told coach, ‘Give me the ball.’ We’re either going to go to overtime or I’m going to win it for us. It was that simple.

“I was supposed to take the ball out.  I told coach, ‘There’s no way I’m taking the ball out, unless I can shoot it over the backboard and it goes in.’ I told him, ‘Have somebody else take the ball out, give me the ball, and everybody get out of the way.’”

LeBron James is the only player that can successfully pull off that stunt.

If James missed his jumper and the Cavaliers went on to lose in overtime, this would be a huge story. ESPN would lead SportsCenter with segments like, “Blatt, James butting heads? Who’s really the coach in Cleveland?” But James made the jumper and all is right in the world.

tanakaIn all seriousness, Cleveland might be in the best shape to win the NBA title. Every team left in the field has its own flaws and considering the Cavs have the best player in the planet, their odds to win it all are the lowest.

Hot Take: The New York Yankees are the most underrated team in the American League. The Bronx Bombers are one of three teams in the AL with 20 wins, yet they’re the team no one is talking about.

If you watched ESPN’s Baseball Tonight Sunday night before the Kansas City-Detroit game, the only teams the analysts raved about when mentioning the best of the American League were the Royals and the Tigers. Don’t get me wrong, the two teams are two of the best in Major League Baseball, but don’t forget about the Yankees.

The Yankees have a 20-12 record with Masahiro Tanaka on the DL, Carlos Beltran and Stephen Drew struggling at the dish and with the circus that is Alex Rodriguez (which is no fault of his own this season.)

With all of that, the Yankees are still in first place in the AL East. All I ask is you give the Yanks some props. They henrik-lundqvistdeserve it.

Hot Take: How about them Rangers?  The New York Rangers dead in the water after Game 4, but look at them now!

After Sunday night’s 4-3 win, the Rangers are heading home to the Garden for Game 7. This has the makings for a great comeback.

Anything can happen when Henrik Lundqvist is between the posts, right?
