EL BARRIO, EL FALLS – Some days, for my introductory paragraph I just want to write blah blah blah. I don’t think most care to read it but I can’t leave it blank. It’s just filler stuff to get to the topics for the day. Let’s skip the appetizer then, and get straight to the entree(s): Les Miles, NBA All-Star Weekend, Blake Griffin!
Les Miles
Wow!!! Just Wow!!! I didn’t really know what all the talk was about… just saw there was a bombshell report about Les Miles in my feed. Then I read the highlights and was like “My sweet lord! what in the world?!” Yes, we know that college football coaches can be self-inflated dirt bags, but despite that, the Miles report shocked me. It was so insane… The sexism, the bullying and then ignoring the pleas of the AD to stop being an ass. His career is over but what about University of Kansas? They supposedly did their due diligence and still hired him. If anyone is shocked that the Jayhawks still hired him, you have not been paying attention to the cesspool that is college sports in America – in particular NCAA Football & Basketball. Having read the highlights of the report, we are all glad that at least Les has been removed from the pool of coaches.
NBA All-Star Weekend
So the official big news is that Team LeBron defeated Team Durant. It seems this set-up of the All-Star game continues to deliver a very exciting contest and so far surpasses the previous format holding players down to their teams and conferences. The big Greek Freak, Giannis Antetokounmpo, won the game MVP due to his perfect shooting record from the field. There were lots of impressive performances, but Antetokounmpo shooting was the clear deciding factor… The Slam Dunk Contest happened during halftime and despite a massive windmill dunk by New York’s Obi Toppin, he lost to Portland’s Anfernee Simmons.
Blake Griffin
The latest destination for NBA stars to land for an easy shot at a title is? Brooklyn. That’s not a typo. The Nets already have Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and James Harden. Not to mention DeAndre Jordan. But they need role players and with that, in comes 6-time NBA All-Star… Blake Griffin. Griffin isn’t the same player he was when was making All-Star games but he is still good for 15 pts and 4 reb a game, which is still worth a lot for a team looking for bench options or a capable power forward. They don’t have to run plays for him and he can score off the scraps he gets. This will be Griffin’s best chance at getting a title, so he will definitely be up for it. The deal was possible since Detriot bought out his contract so he could be sent on waivers to even go to Brooklyn. Go figure.
Thanks for reading, comment below and come back tomorrow for Ben “Pink” Whitney. That’s right, he will remain Pink for as long as I decide. I will be here tomorrow.
