SPANISH HARLEM, NY – This was an up and down week for me as a sports fan. I finally got to watch the New York Knicks play (Awful). Also the Philadelphia Eagles and Carson Wentz played their best game of the season and the New York Yankees came back to Muthaphucking win. I have a lot to say today so let’s get to it.
New York Knicks
I didn’t expect much from the Knicks coming into this season but I thought there was hope when management finally decided to develop the younger players and build through the draft. I was one of those fans that felt the best possible decision would be to let the season play out and hope you get a top 5 pick in the draft and now I feel like a genius. I’m not sure if the players know it but they sure act like a tank a team that’s ready to tank the season and if they can’t keep Kristaps Porzingis and Frankie (Two Toes) Ntilikina healthy, you might see this team fight for the number one pick in the draft.
I know it’s early and my judgment is baseless because they are learning to play in a new system but that defense is atrocious. It’s become a common theme around these parts to think back to the old days when the Knicks were all heart and defense but those days are long gone. This team has no identity and it hasn’t had one for quite some time. It’s a shame that some fans have never seen the Knicks win on consistent basis even when you add the 2012-2013 Knicks that won 54 games. This will be a rough season for sure but if you remain sane, hopefully one day you will see a team you can root for again.
Philadelphia Eagles
This week the Eagles played a great game at home against the Arizona Cardinals. Carson Wentz might have played his best game as a professional and showed why the team felt the need to move up in the draft to take him. I will be the first to tell you that I remember how good Wentz started last year and how bad he looked towards the end of the season but something feels different this year. He finally has a running game and that has allowed the team to win the time of possession in every game they played so far. He seems more confident in the pocket and has made some really great throws to receivers for long yards, especially on third downs. Tonight will be another challenge for Wentz and the Eagles as they look to prove to the NFC that they are a team to be reckoned with when they play the Carolina Panthers on Thursday Night Football.
New York Yankee
I can’t believe the Yankees did it! To come back from two games down and win the series was truly a great feeling. This team showed heart especially after going down two games to the mighty Indians. There were big hits from Didi Gregarious and Brett Gardner and some great pitching from CC and Chapman. I imagine what this must to mean to Joe Girardi and to the players who picked him up after game two.
This team is excited and these experiences can only help the team going forward. The Houston Astros are next and that will be another challenge for this young team.
