Jalen Hurts Shines, Plus New York Giants @ Washington FT Preview

SPANISH HARLEM – If you are a Philadelphia’s Eagles fan you couldn’t have been happier with what you saw on Sunday. It was only the first game of the season but don’t tell us that. I didn’t see much from the team in the preseason games so there was a lot too worry about. That all faded as the Iggles began to take over the game. The offense played great and the defense made it miserable day for Matt Ryan. The main reason to be excited about was the quarterback play and with that said, let’s get into it.

Jalen Hurts

Buddy Diaz

The biggest reason the Eagles were picked as one of the worst teams in the National Football League was because no one knew what to make of Jalen Hurts. He started 4 games last season and while he looked great at times, there were also moments that made you scratch your head. What made him scary is that he is a dual-threat quarterback that is capable of beating you with his arm and his feet. That’s great but questions still remained about his accuracy.

On Sunday he looked awesome! Completed 77 percent of his throws, dealing 264 in the air and 62 yards on the ground with 3 TDs. It’s only one game and he will make mistakes but if he can become that type of quarterback, more often than not, you have a star in the making. I know I’m biased because I’m an Iggles fan. But how can I not be excited?  Look, I understand the Atlanta Falcons aren’t considered a good team or have a great defense but I like what I saw from Hurts and I look forward to what he does this Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers, who have a good defense.

New York Giants @ Washington FT

Both teams are looking for their first win after starting the season with a loss and it always good to get a win against a division foe. All the games will count more because the NFC East is one of the worst divisions in football. Each team has their flaws and whomever wins more games within the division will likely make the playoffs. It’s safe to say that even in week 2, these games are important. Washington will not have their starting quarterback – Ryan Fitzpatrick – but do have a really good defense. The New York Giants are coming off a tough lose at home and are looking to see how Daniel Jones will respond. If the Giants want to have any success this year,  it will have to be Jones to lead the way.

That’s it for now, Come back tomorrow for more content from Different Matt. Until next time..
