NEW YORK, NY – Happy Birthday wishes to Mr. October, as he celebrates the day of his birth on May 18th. Don’t even think of calling Reggie Jackson, Mr. May. That tag was placed on a teammate of his by the team’s owner, George Steinbrenner. Those were the days when the players had thick skin and could take a verbal jab here and there.
Jackson turns 78 years of age and there is no slowing down for this Hall of Famer. He is currently the senior advisor to the Houston Astros owner Jim Crane. He is also a head honcho at a Honda car dealership in Raleigh, North Carolina. Jackson is also promoting the reincarnation of the Reggie Bar, the chocolate caramel candy that was released in 1978.
With all this on his plate, Jackson has a lot of life left in him. On his 75th birthday bash in Las Vegas three years ago the legendary Smokey Robinson serenaded Jackson with Stevie Wonder’s version of, Happy Birthday. Smokey also advised Reggie not to listen to anyone who calls him old. Jackson is taking that tip from Robinson and running with it.
Birthday number 100 will be here in 22 years and at Jackson’s celebration party I can see his current buddies Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, rapping his anthem, In da Club, with another buddy Travis Scott doing his hit, Highest in the Room.
The year on his birth certificate is definitely not slowing Mr. Reginald Martinez Jackson down as he keeps up with the current times. Someone needs to keep the cameras rolling around Mr. October, as a sequel to his 2023 documentary Reggie needs to be filmed on his yet fulfilled life.
