NOTE: Buddy Diaz is a diehard Yankees fan. Therefore, he is not acknowledging the a$$-whoopin’ the Mets put on his team.
SPANISH HARLEM – What a great day it was to wake up a New York Knicks fan! Two nights ago, roughly after 10:30 pm, we got news the Nets were sending Mikal Bridges to the Knicks for Bojan Bogdanovic and a boat load of draft picks. Then last night, while my Yankees were melting at Citi Field, they announced that OG Anunoby signed a deal.
At first, it was sheer insanity from any Knick fan’s perspective to see that the Nets would actually trade their best player – but also to their rival. It still seems hard to believe, but he we are here: Mikal Brides is a New York Knick. I am really enjoying the sound of that and thinking about the possibilities that still remain going into next season.
I know some fans will look at all the drafts picks going to New Jersey Brooklyn and think that they gave up a lot – and they may be right. However, the Knicks don’t get Bridges without overpaying for an asset they coveted. Sure, it can have an effect on future team-building when you lose that number of draft picks, but the Knicks have a good nucleus in place. They anticipate it will be here for the long haul. As we know, they are not done making this team better.

In other BIG news, Leon Rose inked OG Anunoby to 5- years and 212.5 million. That’s huge, and also allows them to focus on Isaiah Hartenstein. That will a tough hurdle, especially if they trade Mitchell Robinson and/or Juluis Randle. My gut tells me that Robinson is the odd man out because I feel the organization favors Hartenstein. Time will tell how this all pans out.
For all Knicks fans out there – we can only hope the best is yet to come… but this is pretty damn great right now!
That’s it for now, please come back tomorrow for Jackson Sternberg.
