Knicks Win to Start 2025, Karl-Anthony Towns Impact

Karl-Anthony Towns, Knicks
Karl-Anthony Towns (#32) has officially arrived for the Knicks

SPANISH HARLEMHappy New Years to everyone. We are one day into 2025 and the New York Knicks gave us another thing to celebrate. Their win against the Utah Jazz was not something we suspected would be a difficult game, but once Jalen Brunson and Miles McBride weren’t playing. So it sure didn’t seem as easy. That didn’t stop Josh Hart’s second consecutive triple double, but the headliner for me today is Karl-Anthony Towns.

If you have been with me long enough, you may recall when I discussed the possibility of trading for KAT in the offseason, as rumors circulated frequently that the Knicks were in on Towns. It seemed farfetched, yet possible. The idea of trading Julius Randle was rampant and loud yet, I ignored the notion because I wanted to see what this team could do with a full year of Randle and the Villanova 4. As we know, that wasn’t meant to be, as Donte DiVincenzo was included in the trade to make it work financially. It was a hard pill to swallow at the time.

That’s the backstory.

Here’s an update: Karl-Anthony Towns is exactly what this Knickerbockers’ team needed. It was so obvious from the beginning how easily he worked with Jalen Brunson. Not surprising, when you consider their collective skill set, but the ease with which they played was apparent from get-go. That brings me to back to the 2015 draft. I really wanted to the Knicks to get the #1 pick so they could choose KAT. That didn’t happen but that led to the unicorn days of Kristaps Porzingis, which were fun in their own right. Still, KAT became the superstar we knew he would be.

Can he take that next step in New York and become the Robin to Jalen’s Batman or will he become the Batman himself, all is possible watching him in this offense. However, you may feel with Brunson and his role on this team as captain and best player, KAT is right there with him in terms of talent and that is something all Knicks fans can appreciate.

That’s it for now, please come back tomorrow for more good content from Action Jackson Sternberg.
