TAMPA, FL – It happens every spring and 2025 is no different down in Tampa, as the NY Yankees prepare for their upcoming season. The guest instructors who are donning the pinstripes are the stars from the past. Names like Willie Randolph, CC Sabathia, Ron Guidry and Roger Clemens are just a few that have excited the fans in attendance.
Even the present players are in awe as they pick the brains of the greats who wore the interlocking NY on their cap. Once the season starts the current players will be coached by names like Matt Blake, Luis Rojas and Casey Dykes. Coaches who never played for the Yankees or anywhere in the Majors.
As a matter of fact, Blake and Dykes never played pro ball, while Rojas had a stint in the Gulf Coast League. These are the teachers of a team that has a payroll over 300 million dollars, and a storied history.
Meanwhile the guest instructors will go back home and hopefully wait for any team to add them to their staff.
In today’s game experience is not necessary. The ANALytical geeks that have ruined the sport will surely not mix

well with the pioneers of the past. Just the thought of laptops vs guts and being in those situations as an ex-player might turn violent.
The clueless owner, who will have his players picking the brains of Blake, Rojas and Dykes rather than the ex-MLB players who won championships, needs to get with the past program and let baseball players coach baseball players. Does it take a genius to figure this out?
