Sports Rain Man: Mets’ Struggles, FIFA’s Empty Seats, and the Caitlin Clark-Angel Reese Toxicity

NIAGARA FALLS, NYHappy Monday. I was gonna talk about baseball and the NHL and NBA finals but there was not enough fire in my belly as I haven’t been paying attention. So I decided to focus on some other couple of things. Today’s topics are: Mets Keep Winning, FIFA’s Empty Sides And The Clark-Reese Toxic Generation.

The Mets’ Struggles

Junior Blaber
The Mets just got swept by the Tampa Bay Rays in a series that exposed some glaring issues. After blowing a late lead in the first game (losing 7-5), they were never really competitive in the next two. The big problem? Runners left on base. It’s becoming a theme—this team struggles to capitalize on scoring opportunities, and it’s not just the stars failing.
Juan Sot0 and he hasn’t been himself l(BigContractItis).
– The supporting cast (Marte, Taylor, etc.) isn’t stepping up when needed.
– The Mets still hold the best record in the NL, but if they want to make a deep playoff run, they need more consistency from the entire lineup.
The All-Star break can’t come soon enough. Time to reset before the second-half push.

FIFA’s empty seats

The FIFA Club World Cup is happening right now… in front of half-empty stadiums. Why?
– Ticket scalping bots bought up seats, pricing out real fans.
– Overpriced resale markets left casual fans unwilling to pay.
– Teams out of form (it’s the offseason for many leagues).
FIFA’s “solution”? Shove all the fans to one side of the stadium so it looks full on camera. It’s embarrassing, but honestly? Good. Maybe this forces FIFA to:
? Lower ticket prices
? Crack down on scalpers
? Stop assuming fans will blindly pay for a subpar product
This tournament should be a celebration of club soccer. Instead, it’s a warning sign for next year’s World Cup in the U.S.

The Caitlin Clark vs. Angel Reese Toxicity Problem

Let’s talk about the worst part of women’s basketball right now: the toxic fan wars between Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese stans.
– Clark’s new fans treat her like the second coming of MJ and attack anyone who criticizes her.
– Reese gets unnecessary hate (mostly over that one NCAA title game moment).
– Both sides are missing the point: This should be about growing the game, not tearing players down.
Reese has handled it poorly at times (her comments haven’t helped), but Clark also has to find a way to speak out more publicly against her crazy fans. The bigger issue is casual fans turning this into a weird, personal feud. This is where the like of Dave Portnoy have not helped the situation. I  won’t even get into the racial tinge that is part of the clash of fans. I will add that the league is 20% white but their marketing team doesn’t make it seem that way. I think WNBA and the NBA need to figure out their marketing to sell both. Trash talk is part of basketball—what’s not part of the game is fans making it deeper than it needs to be.
Support the sport. Enjoy the rivalry. Stop the nonsense.

In Closing

The Mets need clutch hits, FIFA needs to fix its mess, and basketball fans need to chill out. Simple as that.
