SPANISH HARLEM – The MLB All Star just doesn’t have the same feel as it used to. As a young lad, I looked forward to these events. Maybe it has something to do with Inter League play, which allows you to see the best players in either league play against your favorite team. To be honest, I almost forgot it was even on until my brother came to the apartment and remined me it was on. I didn’t know who won until I woke up today and the news feed on my phone.
That brings me to my next thing, the extra innings homerun derby. Instead of allowing the players to play more innings, they came up with the idea for the “derby inning” (my made-up term for it). Seems like it was a hit with fans, as the overall feeling about this is fairly positive. I don’t know how was pitching but I couldn’t imagine a All-Star pitcher just throwing meatballs so I will have to look into that. Anyhow, at least MLB found something that fans seem to like.
Who’s At Third for The New York Yankees
Though I’m more interested in upgrading the pitching staff, the rumor persists on the Yankees trading for a 3rd baseman. The hot name on their list is Eugenio Suarez, who is hitting a ton of homers and would make a good lineup a lot more dangerous. He is a free agent at the end of the season, so it won’t take a boatload of prospect to get him. He was even asked about the possibility of joining the Yankees during the All-Star game. I hope they get this done soon because God knows this team needs him.
That’s it for now, please come back tomorrow for more great content from Jackson Sternberg.
