SPANISH HARLEM – The hot button question of the moment – at least for Yankees fans –  has to be Aaron Boone. Most fans I know didn’t want him back as manager, yet he got a two-year extension. With the way things are going, it begs the question: Is Aaron Boone the Problem?

I understand the New York Yankees are one year removed from getting to the World Series, but it was an ugly series for the polarizing Boone, especially given the way the team imploded in game 5.

Some of the blame has to be on the players, but it’s no coincidence that every year this team finds a way to lose games in bunches. Whether it’s the bullpen, the starting pitching, the hitting and the fielding. Guess what? That’s about every aspect of the baseball game that the Yankees have failed miserably at. I’m sure Boone has discussed this with the team – but is it resonating? It’s hard to tell at this point what can be done to turn this around.

I am not here chanting for Boone to get fired, though I can understand those sentiments. Injuries to Gerrit Cole and Clarke Schmidt are things you cannot avoid. But it’s on the manager to get this team to play hard and smart every day, no matter what group they may have. When you consider their record the last 20 to 30 games, and how often it happens under him season after season, it’s hard to warrant him keeping his job after this season. There are times when a new voice is needed, and it may be time to finally make a change.

That’s it for now, please come back tomorrow for more great content from Jackson Sternberg.
