PORT JEFF, NY – Happy Friday. Here’s what we’ve got: McLean Gives Mets Hope, College Football Returns!
McLean Gives Mets Hope
Some things have changed since my last article; perhaps declaring the Mets’ season “over” in August was a bit premature. After a rough series against the Braves, the Mets called up rookie pitcher Nolan McLean. McLean provided a much-needed boost with a 5-inning, 8-strikeout performance against the Mariners. The Mets bullpen, which had been struggling mightily, has somewhat returned to form. Gregory Soto has been dominant since being acquired, and the Mets have started to find their rhythm again, winning 3 of 4 games since McLean’s debut. It seemed like the Mets were back on track and ready for a postseason push, but a series loss to the last-place Washington Nationals is a serious gut punch. In yet another series they should have handled, the Mets now head to Atlanta for the weekend.

College Football Returns!
College Football – and all it’s NIL zaniness – is back! It’s been a while since we’ve discussed college sports, and football is one of the most exciting and unpredictable games to follow. Each week brings surprises, with teams playing hard to avoid a season-ending loss. In Week 0, Iowa State will face Kansas State in a top 25 matchup on Saturday at noon to kick off the season. As always, we’ll look for some fun longshot betting plays for the season. One of my picks this year is UTSA making the college football playoff at 18-to-1 odds. Let the madness begin!
