NIAGARA FALLS, NY: Happy Monday. It’s been another heavy sports week. Let’s narrow it down to these: Jets Lose, NY Knicks and Rangers Recap, MLS Schedule Change
NY Jets Lose
Thursday night, the Jets went up to New England and lost 24-14. I hate the short week; I think that doesn’t help things, and it’s just a monotonous grind.
They just didn’t have the full complement of their receivers, and again, the offense just sputtered and stalled way too much. I saw Justin Fields throw a perfect strike that was dropped, so it wasn’t 100% his fault, but the team just didn’t function. It went back to Breece Hall being able to do some things, but not enough.
The defense is so much better, but a couple of guys are still making the same errors. This was a major test for the Jets, facing an in division rival who’s having a really good year. It’s fine; I thought they put up a decent fight, but it could have been a better one if someone on offense could have been clutch and made a play to keep the game much closer.
NY Knicks
The Knicks won two and lost one this week. They beat the Grizzlies at home, but I don’t put a lot of stock in that. They lost at home to the Orlando Magic and finished the week with a win at home against the Miami Heat.
The fact that Miami scored 132 points and lost while the Knicks scored 140… well, it just reminds me of how much I miss ’90s basketball. Missing guys taking mid-range jumpers and missing proper defense. This is just way too much scoring for me to appreciate these scores.
NY Rangers
The Rangers managed to go 3-1 this week. They beat Nashville at home, as well as Columbus in overtime on the road. They managed to go to Tampa and win in dominating fashion, but they did lose last night to Chicago at home.
Their home form is slowly improving, but they still need more consistent wins to go along with them being the best on the road. Hopefully, they can slowly but surely improve their winning percentage at home.
MLS Schedule Change

Major League Soccer, like most sports trying to get into the US market, has done a summer schedule, similar to Major League Rugby, women’s soccer (NWSL), and the WNBA. But now, the MLS owners are going to vote to match the European schedule with a winter breakābut they will be playing as late as late November… in Minnesota. Brilliant idea, guys. What could possibly go wrong?
Come back tomorrow for Big Ben Whitney.
