PORT JEFF, NY – Greetings. The Giants Mess Continues. Let’s discuss.
ICYMI, THE GIANTS FIRED DABOLL
Following yet another blown lead against the Bears last Sunday, it was a forgone conclusion Big Blue would move on from Daboll. It’s hard to justify not firing Daboll, given how poorly this team has closed games this season. Having advocated for the Giants to retain Daboll in 2026, I am a bit disappointed in the decision to move on from him. While there are many question marks when it comes to his in-game decisions, I think when given competent QB play, Daboll is a very talented play-caller who clearly has an eye for offensive talent.
I do understand why this happened, however. What I don’t understand is why this happened mid season, forcing Jaxson Dart to learn an entirely new system come his sophomore campaign. I simply do not understand what GM Joe Schoen and owner John Mara expected coming into 2025. This past offseason it was widely expected that Russell Wilson would start the majority of the season, given that alone it should’ve been understood that 2025 would likely be another lost season. Despite how things played out this season, I think Daboll is a good offensive coach. The offense has for the most part overachieved given the lack of talent around Dart at the moment, it’s the defense that was supposed to be the strength of this team that’s been a massive disappointment. Nevertheless the Giants for some unknown reason will retain Schoen and give him the opportunity to pick this teams future HC and it is absolutely imperative he makes the right decision given that this organization has finally found its QB of the future.

It’s hard to believe what’s happened to this franchise. When I was growing up, the Giants were among the most respected franchises in sports. No matter the state of the roster, for the most part there was confidence that Eli and Tom Coughlin would have the team playing meaningful games come December. Since the departure of Coughlin, it’s been an absolute nightmare. Going back even further to the 2012 Super Bowl winning team, the Giants have had a total of two, TWO winning seasons in the last 13 years. There has not been a team to miss on more Head Coaches then the Giants. It’s not even that they’re bad hires. They’ve made some truly mind-bogglingly bad hires that have set this franchise back to a point that it’s still recovering. Whether it’s Ben McAdoo, Joe Judge or Pat Schurmur all were absolute disastrous hires.
We can only hope for the sake of Jaxson Dart they can finally hire a competent coach.
