Trade Deadline Questions for the Yankees

Will Brian Cashman and the Yankees look the other way at MLB Trade Deadline?

SPANISH HARLEM – With the New York Yankees days away from the Trade Deadline, the question everyone will be asking is: Can they get better? Every year since the inception of the Wild Card, more teams have a chance to make the playoffs. This can make things complicated because it will be difficult to determine what teams will sell on Monday, August 3rd.

Brian Cashman has made some trades throughout the years that helped this team make the playoffs. Last year, though they made the playoffs there was no player that has stood out. While some might say David Bednar became the closer and he was a good addition, I just don’t trust him and don’t see an elite closer.

This year they will be looking for a reliever or two and possibly an everyday catcher. What’s has me worried is that even if he is able to make some positive trades, do the Yankees have enough to win it all? That is question every year and for good reason, they haven’t won a championship since 2009. And let’s not forget, we are a “what have you done for lately?” type of fan base.

There is still no timetable for Aaron Judge’s return and God only knows what will happen with Giancarlo Stanton, but everything will be dependent on Judge’s return. Will that affect what Cashman will do at the deadline? Will he be hesitant to give up value if he suspects that Judge won’t return this season? All great questions to ask, in my opinion.

That’s it for now, please come back tomorrow for more great revelations from Jackson Sternberg.
