STAMFORD, CT – Yo, yo, yo. A few final thoughts as we get ready to power into another NFL season. Today’s topics – a Bronco Bet to win you some horse feed, Shedeur Sanders makes teams look smart, and Jaxson Dart brings hope to the Giants. Without further ado, let’s ride.

Bronco Country, Let’s Ride – All the Way to the Bank

In their first year under Sean Payton, the Broncos exceeded expectations and won ten games. They gave up the third fewest points and have added some key veterans and draft picks going into 2025. They’re expected to have one of the best defenses in the league. And Payton is putting bounties on QBs heads again! Probably.

On offense they have upstart Bo Nix in his second year. And in case you didn’t notice, his first year was pretty impressive. And they added TE weapon Evan Engram, and 2nd round stud RB PJ Harvey to take the pressure off Nix. The schedule is middle of the pack, so nothing to get too nervous about there.

Over 10.5 wins pays +120 on a certain gambling site. So, they only have to improve by one game to pay better than even money.

Take the ova and thank me later.

She-D’oh

Last week I predicted Shedeur Sanders would take over for Flacco early in the season. I’d like to recant that statement, Your Honor. I was under duress. The Matts were hounding me for content again. It wasn’t my fault!

Sanders looked every bit the fifth-round rookie in limited action vs the Rams. His penchant for holding the ball way too long was on full display, but more worrisome was his poor body language.

Sanders seems to have the attitude that the league needs him, and he is doing them a favor by going out there. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s not even active to start the season.

My new prediction is a Johnny Manziel-esque career. But it won’t be his fault.

Don’t get too excited about preseason.
Don’t get too excited about preseason.

Bros, I can’t help it. It feels a bit different this year, doesn’t it? They scored 31, 34, and 42 points this preseason. For comparison purposes only, they scored 14, 10, and 6 last year in the preseason and they only broke 30 points once in the regular season. That was in the Drew Lock outlier aberration game of a lifetime, when they scored 45.

Sure, it’s preseason, but certainly we can see a much more functional offense here. And on D, hope resides with Abdul Carter and a crew of pass rushers that should be able to cause some havoc.

Deep down, we all knew Daniel Jones wasn’t the guy. We tried to talk ourselves into him. But, the intangibles… The main reason for hope this year is because of Jaxson Chase Dart. We ain’t seen this much moxie since a young Jonathon Moxon took over for the injured Lance Harbor for the West Canaan, Texas Coyotes.

Russ Wilson must feel like the boyfriend dropping his gorgeous girlfriend off at college. He knew his days were numbered but didn’t think it happen this quickly. Um, bye honey.

My hope is tempered by the NFL deciding to give the Giants the hardest schedule in the league. You jackasses know they won three game last year, right? Three!!!

Speaking of jackasses, Angry Ward is here tomorrow. Hee haw!
