Sports Rain Man: Mets Snap Skid, Rangers Take Game 3, Cold-Blooded Agents

NIAGARA FALLS, NY Hello on this Memorial Day! This is too solemn a holiday for that! All gave some, but some gave all!  I want you to think about all those that made the ultimate sacrifice in the name of God and Country on this day and give thanks to those men and women. Anyway, let’s look at today’s menu: Mets Snap Skid, Rangers Take Game 3, Cold Blooded Agents.

Mets Snap Skid

The Mets won on Sunday to snap a 5-game skid. The skid – and last week – were extremely frustrating because of the number of blown leads and RISP left from the 7th inning on. The Amazins blew leads or score 2 runs while needing 3, or the relievers would blow 1, 2, 3 and even 4-run leads. So, good work from the starters has gone to waste. The Mets are 8 games under .500. Their season is not over but they need to get hot and go on a winning streak – like they did in the second week. To be clear, I am talking about the a 13 of 15 kind of streak. That’s the only thing to give them any chance of looking like a playoff team. Othewise, they should be sellers at the MLB Trade Deadline. Sure, there’s a long way to go to think that way but it helps to be realistic.

Rangers Take Game 3

Playoff Hockey, Bloody Hell! People talk about how there are very few sports things as intense as playoff hockey. I mean, the Rangers have won Game 2 and Game 3 in overtime. It is edge-of-your-seat stuff and every pass and attack in the zone for either side has you nervous that this is the play that wins the game. I am so happy the Blueshirts won and the fact that it is different lines rising to the occasion is great. The growth in this team is very scary and they seem to have a lot skill with the checking line than other teams. This series has been a lot closer than I expected, and game 3 was the first high-scoring game. They were up 4-2 in the 3rd period before Florida came back to tie at 4-4. Then the Rangers had to win in OT.

Cold Blooded Agents

Junior Blaber

So I am a Man United FC fan and there were rumors that at the end of the season, the manager was getting fired. Turns out that the rumors were the agents of prospective managers try to disregulate the team, so they played poorly their last few games and lost their FA Cup game. See, United had new management midway through the season and as everyone knows, a new director of operations on a sports team doesn’t have much loyalty for the manager they inherit. So United’s Director has been making calls and interviewing possible candidates. He and his team decide whether to keep the current manager or hire someone else. With them doing all the interviewing and the team struggling, the agents decided to do more to ensure their guy got the job. That is cold-blooded but that seems to be the sports world.

Thanks for reading and come tomorrow to hear from the Ben “Hockey Addict” Whitney.
