Big Ben: Finding Silver Linings in the Coronavirus Lockdown – with John Lennon, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Alex Ovechkin

WUHAN CLAN – Hey there. How are you guys handling the sheltering? Things are getting weird. But with this sudden addition of free time, we finally have time to get some sh!t done. You know, when we’re not “working from home.” It’s time to finish that screenplay, paint the deck, binge-watch The Wire and reconnect with the family. I’ve found a few Silver Linings in the Coronavirus Lockdown and I’ll take you through a few, with some help from John Lennon.

Strange Days Indeed

Ben_Whitney, Arnold Schwartzenegger, Alex_Ovechkin, John_LennonSo I’m feeling much better about my investment in a Peloton, the bike, not the stock, which would have been better. Another thing I feel good about it is Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s Instragram feed. He has made several videos imploring people to stay home while chilling in his mansion with his with his pygmy ponies named Whiskey and Lulu.

It’s pretty easy to stay home when you live in a house the size of Downton Abbey with a huge hot tub and magical horse creatures. There is a 100% chance he’s losing his mind. If you haven’t seen these yet, enjoy.

Also, Ovi rapping. How did I not know about this? Between this and his Stanley Cup bender, I’d like to spend a weekend with this guy. You don’t need to speak Russian to enjoy this gem.

Life is What Happens When You’re Busy Making Other Plans

You have to get creative when you spend most of your time in the homestead. Check me out here keeping my hockey skills up while simultaneously exercising my dog Chief. I was aiming for the window in the pink playhouse. Totally airmailed it.

All You Need is Love

Nobody Told Me There’d be Days Like These

I’ve also been spending a lot of time with my three year old twin daughters. There has been a lot of breaking up fights, pretending to be a horse, and watching Disney Plus.

The plot of Frozen 2 was a bit complicated, don’t you think? One of my daughters was asking questions the whole time. I knew most of the answers, but still. And there has been lots and lots of dance parties.

More time with those two, er, and my wife of course, has been pretty awesome.

Hopefully I will still have a job in a few weeks. Hang in there friends. And thank Trump.

Always thanks Trump.

Ben Whitney comes from journalistic stock. Aside from his brothers, rumor has that his great-great grandfather was the youngest brother of Eli Whitney and covered the earliest "rounders" games. Big Ben is also another New York Rugby Club player/pal of Different Matt, Short Matt and Junoir Blaber. He likes film noir discussions, has twin girls and took up ice hockey after retiring from rugby.
