SPANISH HARLEM – Two days can definitely change the way you feel about a team.
I sit here pissed that the worst players on Tampa’s roster is outplaying the best players on my favorite team. This can happen in the MLB Playoffs more than in any other sport.
When the New York Yankees get the bases loaded in two innings, you expect more than one run. Homers rule the world but not when they don’t go out. A hit in the gap gets you more than one and depending on the defense, two or more.
I have mixed thoughts but as you can tell, the voice in my head isn’t crooning happy tunes about what I have seen. I hate to be the guy that wants to fire everybody but… who do you blame for the Deivi Garcia and Jay Happ fiasco? Boone and Cashman will get most of the blame, and they should. In the playoffs you put your best foot forward. You don’t guess.
Every team has access to advance analytics, you’re not the first or the last team to think you found something that nobody else noticed. You play the game to win… not to be smarter. You outsmart yourself and find out your the dumb guy.
Nobody will care about me ranting and calling this series for the Tampa Bay Rays but I think the Yankees deserve to lose this series. Gerrit Cole was a great addition but what other pitcher on the Yankees do you have confidence in? I’m asking The Yankees fans because I know I didn’t get to excited for Garcia, less so for JA Happ. Playoff Tanaka was the best bet we had and he didn’t show up. Also don’t get me started on the relievers for this team.
You can enjoy Jordan Montgomery tomorrow… but I won’t. I have seen this movie before and I don’t like how it ends. Call me a Yankees fan or call me a Yankees hater. If you don’t hate what you have been seeing the last two games than I know you haven’t been watching closely.
I want the New York Yankees to show me something. Make me eat my words. I will enjoy that more than losing.
Until tomorrow…
