Knicks/Pacers Game 4, Mets Struggles Continue, PGA Championship Preview

HOLBROOK, NY- Greetings… Let’s dive right into today’s topics. Knicks/Pacers Game 4, Mets Struggles Continue, PGA Championship Preview

Mets Struggles Continue

The Mets lost Saturday to the Braves to fall to 18-20 on the season. The Braves entered this series as one of the coldest offenses in the league and on one of their worst offensive stretches in recent years. All it took was two games at CitiField and all is well for Atlanta. Aside from a recent surge from the now-injured Brandon Nimmo, the Mets are flat-out not hitting at all. The only bright spot in the last week has been Christian Scott, who delivered six solid innings against one the best lineups in baseball. As if it wasn’t bad enough on the field, Brooks Raley appears headed for Tommy John and Kodai Senga appeared to suffer a bit of a setback in his recovery. At this point, I have very little expectations for this team going forward. They’ve had flashes of being a solid ball-club but that’s about it.

Knicks/Pacers Game 4

Despite losing game three to Indiana, it was one of the most impressive showings from this team in the playoffs. No Julius Randle, Mitchell Robinson and now OG Anunoby, and the Knicks still had a real shot to win with under a minute left. I’m done ever doubting Jalen Brunson, however I must admit I’m at least a little concerned how banged up this team is. With Thibs’ proclivity for narrowing his rotation and playing his starters 40 plus minutes, there has to be some concern that these guys are flat out exhausted. I think this Knicks team as it stands now is good enough on both sides of the ball to get by Indiana at less than 100%, however they’ll need to be at full strength if they hope to compete with Boston in a potential Eastern Conference Finals match-up.

PGA Championship Preview

Jacob Sternberg

It’s the second major of the year, let’s make some picks!

This year’s iteration of the PGA Championship will be played at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky. The last time Valhalla hosted the PGA Championship in 2014, Rory McIlroy was the winner.

Speaking of Rory, he enters Sunday one shot off the lead at the Wells Fargo Championship and enters PGA Championship week in excellent form, as he searches for his first major title in over a decade.

Brooks Koepka. The five time major champion enters the week in excellent form, winning last week on the LIV tour. There is no better player in major championship conditions than Brooks and after a lackluster showing at the Masters, Koepka will be extra motivated in his quest to hoist his fourth Wanamaker trophy this week at Valhalla.

Scottie Scheffler. Scheffler is on the best run we’ve seen of any player since peak Tiger. After winning four of his previous five starts, Scheffler took the last few weeks off in preparation for the second major of the season. As he was at The Masters, Scheffler is a ridiculous +375 to win the PGA Championship and the only hope the field may have of him not being the runaway winner is rust.
