Port Jeff NY- Greetings, let’s talk ball(s): More on Mets and Yankees MLB Trade Deadline Moves, Plus NFL Trade Requests
Mets and Yankees MLB Trade Deadline Moves
Mets
I couldn’t be more satisfied with how the Mets handled this MLB Trade Deadline. They went out and completely revamped their bullpen, adding Ryan Helsley and Taylor Rogers – both of whom have been excellent this season Rogers specifically is such a good add as he gives teams an entirely different look with his funky submarine delivery. In addition to the bullpen arms, the Mets also traded for Cedric Mullins from the Orioles. Mullins does a lot of what Tyrone Taylor does with speed and good defense, however Mullins is a much more consistent hitter and even has decent power. I love what this team did, they went all in without giving up any huge prospects.
Yankees
Despite the disastrous collapse against the Marlins the other night that each new acquisition played a part in, I really like what the Yankees did. Much like the Mets they’ve decided to add a ton of depth at the back end of their bullpen adding Jake Bird, David Bednar and Camilo Doval. As it currently stands the American League doesn’t have a single dominant team without flaws, despite sitting 4 games out of first place the Yankees are not only capable of still winning the division but I believe they’re still one of the favorites to represent the AL in the World Series. If they can continue to stay afloat until Judge comes back there’s no reason this team can’t make a charge the final two months of the season and assert themselves among the top teams in the league.
NFL Trade Requests
Parsons wants out.
A shocker out of Dallas. It was reported Friday that star pass rusher Micah Parsons wants to be traded from the cowboys as they struggle to come to an agreement on a new contract. This makes absolutely no sense to me. Why in the world would the cowboys let this drag on so long and not pay Parsons who’s probably the most impactful player on the defensive side of the ball in the NFL. There’s almost no way the Cowboys actually trade Parsons it would be unprecedented to see a player of this caliber in his prime get moved. We just saw this earlier this offseason with Myles Garrett, he demanded a trade and a new contract quickly came to be. I think we’ll see a resolution before the regular season.
Terry McLaurin Requests Trade.

This one isn’t as shocking. McLaurin has been very vocal all offseason about wanting a new contract. McLaurin is a very good player, however, is he a top 5 wide receiver? Because he wants to be paid as though he is and I’m not so sure. The Commanders are in a win now situation with their star QB Jayden Daniels still on his rookie deal so there’s plenty of cap space to get a deal done, I’m just not sure Washington wants to pay him the top of the market. Similar to Parsons I think a new contract is the likeliest outcome however it wouldn’t stun me if McLaurin was on a new team before the season.
