SPANISH HARLEM – The New York Knicks are your 2025 Emirates NBA Cup Champions! While some may scoff at this win, you should always want to your team to win games, especially important ones in the regular season. Sure, this win doesn’t count in the win column, but it does count in our hearts.
It is very early in the season and while it matters more where they end up than where they started, you have to believe that this is a positive thing for the Knicks. The players care whether they win or lose and those saying that they don’t aren’t being honest. No one wants to lose, they always want to win, at anything they do. This also means a lot to me because I have never seen this team win anything in my lifetime, so you won’t be seeing me write anything negative when it comes to this accomplishment.
It was fun to watch and there was a playoff feel to this game that was hard to ignore… you could see that the Spurs wanted this just as much as the Knicks. Lead by Tyler Kolek, Jordan Clarkson and Mitchell Robinson, the Knicks took the lead in the 4th quarter that they would not relinquish. Jalen Brunson was his reliable self, while winning the tournament MVP and Karl-Anthony Towns played well on defense and provided just enough offense while dealing with a strained calf. Can’t forget the defensive and shooting provide by OG as well.

This was a great team win and showed me that they can compete against the top teams in the league. Sure, I wanted to see how they compared against the likes of OKC but that will have to wait. Today, we can rejoice in that Cup Championship while continuing to yearn for that illusive NBA Finals Championship.
That’s it for now, please come back tomorrow for more great content from Jackson Sternberg.
