PORT JEFF, NY – Happy New Year everyone! Let’s talk some sports: College Football Playoffs, Giants Season Finale
College Football Playoffs
Miami vs Ohio State
The CFPs are off to a wild start, with the Miami Hurricanes pulling off one of their biggest wins in 25 years by taking down the defending national champion Ohio State Buckeyes. The Canes dominated in all three phases, but the real battle was won in the trenches, where Miami’s pass rush was on another level. Led by Ruben Bain, who might be the best player in college football and a top contender for the number one pick in this year’s draft, Miami has fans wondering just how far the ‘U’ can go.
Oregon vs Texas Tech
In what I thought was the most evenly matched game of the playoffs, Oregon and Texas Tech went head-to-head, but the Ducks didn’t give Texas Tech an inch. While many expected Tech’s defense to overwhelm Oregon, it was the other way around, as the Ducks dominated the Red Raiders for all four quarters. With QB Dante Moore ranking among the best in college football, Oregon looks like another team with sky-high potential.
Ole Miss vs Georgia
In a stunner, the Ole Miss Rebels have taken down Goliath, despite losing their coach in the middle of the season!Ole Miss will advance, this will truly go down as one of the biggest upsets in college football history.
Indiana vs Alabama
There was a ton of hype around this game. From Indiana’s rise as a new standard in college football, to questions about whether Alabama even deserved to be there. Indiana quickly proved The Tide didn’t belong, putting the game away by halftime. They’ve looked like the best team in college football all season, and what Curt Cignetti has accomplished in just two years is incredible. With Ohio State recently eliminated, Indiana has to be the favorite to win the National Championship.
Giants Season Finale

The Giants wrapped up yet another disappointing season, but there were a few bright spots heading into next year. Quarterback Jaxson Dart, wide receiver Wan ‘dale Robinson, and Cam Skattebo emerged as breakout players, and even without superstar Malik Nabers for the season, the offense looked functional for the first time in a while. On defense, rookie Abdul Carter showed his potential over the last five or six games, after the team moved on from Shane Bowen. Other standouts included Dru Phillips, Daruis Alexander, and Brian Burns, who was having a defensive player of the year-worthy campaign if not for the dominance of Myles Garrett.
