SPANISH HARLEM – If your Knicks fan like me, born in the late 1970’s, you have never seen a New York Knicks team win an NBA championship. You were lucky enough to see them in the NBA finals (1994 & 1999) but only did the 94’ team have a real chance of bringing the Larry O-Brien trophy home. That is not to say that the 99’ team wasn’t special because they were the first 8th seed to make the NBA finals, yet it felt like we were playing with fool’s gold.
To answer AngryWard’s question from yesterday: Who do I want to play to in the in the championship? My answer is… I don’t care! I believe this team can beat anybody right now. Bring down the Monstars from Space Jam and they could beat them too. I don’t think I have ever felt this confident about a Knicks team in my life. This is not hyperbole because I think 99 percent of Knicks fans feel the same way.
Sure, it could be all the losing I went through as a kid that has led me to feel this way, but this group of players have surpassed any and all expectations I had coming into the year. Even though I always believed this team could make the Finals, I could not believe that they could beat the likes of OKC and San Antonio. Now I’m saying to myself “bring it the f@#k on!” because I have seen how great this can be and the way they are playing right is second to none.
I’m still on this ultimate high of winning 11 in a row! And I can’t wait for the games to begin but I also want OKC and San Antonio to beat the hell out of each other to see which team deserve to play my Knicks!
