SPANISH HARLEM – We are finally here, Game 1 of the NBA Finals with the New York Knicks in San Antonio to take on the Spurs. Let’s start with my pre-game and post-game feelings and reactions.
Pre-Game Feelings
I couldn’t be more anxious to watch the Knicks play. To see if there is any rust from another long layoff. to see if Mitchell Robinson will play or will they be cautious for game 1. In my opinion we need Robinson the whole series, if he wants to play and the medical staff says ok, put him out there.
The Spurs will be loud, and it will be interesting to see if Jalen Brunson and Knicks can handle the intensity of the game that will be there from the opening minutes? Will this group continue their hot shooting ways, or will they finally come back to earth? All questions that will be answered soon enough.
Post-Game Reactions
What more can you say about this team that hasn’t already been said… They are gritty and they find a way to win! This was not a pretty game for the New York Knicks, but they never let up. Not when they were down going into the half, not when they were down 14 points in the 3rd quarter and especially when it seemed that Victor Wembanyama was about to take over the game in late in the 4th quarter. The Knicks played their brand of basketball, after seeing an 8-point lead turn into the 1-point lead for the Spurs, Jalen Brunson went to work. A three pointer gave the New York a two-point lead and another acrobatic shot that only he could make putt them ahead for good. With some great defense down the stretch, the lead grew to 10 points and the game was over.

They big contributions from Karl-Anthony Towns, whose defense on Wemby was a major factor in the comeback. Landry Shamet again provided a spark off the bench with 13 points and Josh Hart did Josh Hart things, 15 rebounds to go along with 6 assist and 4 steals. OG hit some big 3’s but none bigger than the 3-pointer over Wemby. Again, this was an ugly game from the Knicks, yet they still found a way win game 1.
Kudos to this team for never giving up, LFGK!
That’s it for now, please come back tomorrow for more great revelations from Jackson Sternberg.
