SPANISH HARLEM – Happy Thursday. For most of you it will be a short day at and a nice 3 day weekend. The weather is hot in New York, but the sports world is on fire with the NBA free agency and what the Knicks have done or will continue to do. We also have my annual Yankees Boone June rant, so they jump right into it.
Aaron Boone
I don’t like to use the word “hate” when discussing someone in sports, yet I highly dislike the way Aaron Boone tries to play the optimist when things are bad. Sometimes you have to call a spade a spade but I’m at the point where I know it’s not in his nature and that may be hurtful to this team. You don’t have to be ugly or disrespectful, but I would appreciate more honesty.
Austin Wells stinks and he is not, I repeat, is not a major league ball player at this point in his career. Moving Jose Caballero around to different positions when he is clearly the best shortstop for Anthony Volpe is delusional. The hitting is downright unwatchable, and the starting pitching is not giving us what we need at this time. Just call them out because coddling them has not worked since he got here.
NBA Free Agency
LeBron James is a free agent… again and that will dominate the news. Kawhi Leonard is a Toronto Raptor for a 2nd go round, with more yet to come but let’s talk about my Knicks. Most fans want to keep this group together but with the second apron and Jim Dolan insisting that they won’t go over that has fans fuming. Baring a miracle, Mitchell Robinson is gone yet they signed Jose Alvarado and Landry Shamet. We will see if Jordan Clarkson will return but the Knicks do need another center to back up KAT. Will they sign or trade for someone remains to be seen but 2 out of 3 isn’t bad.
