SPANISH HARLEM – As some point today, we will find out who the American League MVP. While discussing each player’s statistics is above my pay grade, there are many divided as to who was the better player this year. I would love for Aaron Judge to win, but I have a gut feeling it will be Cal Raleigh. Also on the front burner, is some Paul Skenes news
Raleigh had a season for the ages and when you consider he was the Seatle Mariners’ everyday catcher, it feels like the MVP is his to lose. Judge has a great season and there may be some fatigue for some in the media giving him the award. Any other year and he wins it, but Raleigh was impressive all year and provided some clutch at bats late in the season that should clinch it for him. Take into account the Mariners making the ALDS (which will not be counted) and you see why he should be the MVP.
Paul Skenes Wants the Yankees

This is music to my ears. But will it happen? I assume the Yankees have a good shot as any team, but the fact that he favors the Yanks puts them in the driver’s seat. If you are Brian Cashman, you make them a Godfather offer that they can’t refuse. Granted, Skenes will continue to be a Pirate for the near future but when the time is right, they have to pounce. He is one of the best pitchers – if not the best pitcher – in the game right now and he is going into his 3rd season. There were rumors that the Yankees looked into Skenes at the trade deadline but that didn’t get very far, so the feeling is mutual. Either way, this is something all NYY fans will continue to dream about.
That’s it for now, please come back tomorrow for more great content from Jackson Sternberg.
