HOLBROOK, NY – Happy Veterans Day to all and thanks all that serve/served. Your sacrifice allows us to do things like talk sports, so let’s get to my thoughts re a crazy week in NY sports: Storm Rising, Giant Doom and Gloom, Mets Hired Who?!
Storm Rising
Tuesday ushered in a new era 
of St John’s basketball, with the debut of Rick Pitino. The new-look Red Storm took the floor against the Seawolves of Stony Brook… Joel Soriano, one of the two returning players from the Mike Anderson regime, continued to show why he was second in the country in double-doubles last season, with 21 and 10 in the contest. The two Ivy League transfers, Chris Ledlum and Jordan Dingle were also impressive. Ledlum put up a double-double of his own in the win, and Jordan dingle dropping 15 off the bench. The true “star” of the game, however, was Iona transfer Daniss Jenkins, who was with Pitino the previous three years… A monster game at The Garden awaits.
On to the New York Giants, to drag the good vibes right out of the city…
Giant Doom and Gloom
Daniel Jones tore his ACL in a disgusting performance against the Las Vegas Raiders. Many are saying this may be it for Jones as the Giants signal-caller… I hope its not. He showed last year at the very least, he can be an Alex Smith type QB, who if put in the right situation, can flourish, I may be in the minority but I do not think drafting a QB will magically make this team’s woes just disappear. The O-Line is still the worst unit in football – and has been since Jones was drafted.
Mets Hired Who?!
Who the hell did the mets hire? After not signing Craig Counsell, the team pivoted to Carlos Mendoza! I am baffled by this move. I trust David Stearns as President of Baseball Operations, so I will not freak out just yet. Having said that, why they did not keep Buck Showalter for at least this season baffles me.
