SPANISH HARLEM – The New York Yankees are playing great basebal, despite losing the series to the Dodgers over the weekend. They will get Gerrit Cole back at some point, so we will skip Bronx Bombers talk and head right into whether the Knicks should trade for an elite player.
Cole Progressing
Cole on Sunday got through his 2nd rehab start of the season and when you wake up not hearing anything arm related with Cole, it is a blessing – “no news is good news” they say. He is as important as any Yankee and if this team wants to win a championship, they know it starts with Cole. He is one of the best, if not the best pitchers on the planet, depending on your opinion.
He is the guy you want leading your staff and the one person you want to start a playoff series. His timetable is nearing a return to the team, with possibly another start or two in minors before he is added to the active roster. With the Yankees pitching the way they have, there is no rush on their part or any need to force anything onto Cole. When he is ready, he will be back in the rotation.
Trading Julius Randle…
Any time there is a major trade mentioned for the Knicks, you hear Randle’s name as part of it. I know it’s fun to speculate on who the New York Knicks could or should get. You get way more eyes on something when big names on involved and it’s great to match make trades with teams and players, but it depends on the right player and the right fit for this team. Say what you want about Randle, but he is a damn good player, who no longer feels the weight of the world on his shoulders for being the Knicks’ best player. That now falls on Jalen Brunson and as we saw all season long, he was born for this.
Best case scenario has the Knicks keeping OG Anunoby and Isaiah Hartenstein. Signing both players would put the Knicks over cap and possibly at the 2nd apron, which would limit any options available to make trades and add to the team. With that… why aren’t more people on board to keep this team together and see what they can do when they are all healthy? I know where I stand with the team and the players they have. I want to see what they are capable of.
I hope fans feel like me.
That’s it for now, please come back tomorrow for Jackson Sternberg.
