Buddy’s Sports Bag: Yankees, Knicks, Boxing, Coach Drake, NBA and More!

SPANISH HARLEM – I had so many things to write about in my head and I couldn’t pick just one. While scrolling through Twitter and Bleacher Report, I found news in sports that made think, that made laugh and one that made sad. I have thoughts and opinions, so let’s just get right to it.

Aroldis Chapman one minute is opting out of his contract at the end of the season and they actually used the word “1 Million Percent“. Sources are the worst, I didn’t know there was something better than 100 percent but I guess you learn new things every day. The next minute, that rumor had Chapman release a statement saying its completely false… like you expect him to say “yea I’m leaving bitches, now what”.

Chris Paul got traded from the Houston Rockets for Russell Westbrook and the NBA media went CRAZY. Two of the best isolation players in the game together on the same team… mind blown. Then everybody remembered there is only one basketball to go around.

The New York Yankees traded for Terrance Gore and nobody cared. Don’t they have too many outfielders to begin with? Call when they trade for the pitcher.

Have you guys seen little Coach Drake? If you haven’t, please google it. It’s the funniest thing I have seen all day. He coaches for the Kalamazoo Growlers. I won’t spoil it for you but trust me on this.

The New York Knicks signed Marcus Morris and I don’t hate it. He might be the best player on the team. I don’t know what that means for Kevin Knox but I hope he gets time to develop on the court. Maybe this makes everyone work harder, now that no spots are guaranteed.

Nobody wants to F&@k with CC Sabathia. Just don’t do it. Go back to the dugout because you certainly don’t want it with that guy. I’m gonna miss that big bear of a pitcher.

Did you know that Manny Pacquiao is still fighting? Yup and he will fight Keith Thurman on Saturday. I can’t believe the Pacman is still doing it. He is my favorite boxer in the world and I’m amazed that he is still boxing. Thurman is really good and I’m scared for Pacquiao, this could get ugly fast. Boxing will always be a young man’s sport.

Big Baller Brand… over. And thank god, what were they thinking selling $500 sneakers that might be the ugliest sneaker you ever saw in your life.

What’s the deal with Dennis Eckersley? Is he crazy or does he just like to hear himself speak? His opinions have no merit. His greatest moment was giving up a home run to Kirk Gibson in the World Series… on ONE LEG. You suck Eck!

Last but not least, RIP to Pernell Whitaker. One of the best boxers I ever saw in the ring. He was really fun to watch and came up big in big fights. He died too young, it’s sad that he was taken too soon. My heart goes out to his family and friends. You will be missed.

That’s all I got. If you made this far, might as well leave a comment.
