SPANISH HARLEM – Holy Sh!t What more can you say about that Philadelphia Eagles/ Chicago Bears match-up? 9 out of 10 times you lose that game if you’re the Eagles. Icing the kicker almost never works and yet, with all the talk about Cody Parkay missing the second most field goals on the season, I had a feeling there was no way he would miss this one. Philly had just scored after another magic moment from Foles – on fourth down – but they were only up one. Everyone knew they would go two and when they failed, it was a prime moment for the Bears to win it with a field goal.
You can say the Eagles were lucky and I would have a hard time disagreeing with you. They weren’t supposed to win this game and yet they leave Chicago looking at another week of football. Nick Foles came up big late but you wouldn’t say he played the best football of his life. He had two interceptions and looked nothing like the Super Bowl quarterback he was last year or even last week yet he came through when he was needed the most. Every game he wins will cause more doubt for Carson Wentz and the farther they go, the more whispers you will hear about the possibility of trading Wentz.
It’s a great day to be an Eagles fan and not so much if you love da Bears. This wasn’t the prettiest game to watch – unless you like defense. Chicago had one of the best in the league and you knew, going in, it wasn’t going to be easy. They created a whole lot of turnovers during the season and that was on display this game. There were a lot of things that didn’t go their way but they had a chance in the end and really that’s all that matters. Give your team an opportunity to win the game and they did that. Cody Parkay didn’t hold up his end but… that sometimes the sure thing isn’t always the sure thing.
