Yankees vs Mets, Mike Trout’s Back Injury and NFL Training Camp Opens

Back, back, back, back... Oh! He's out!

SPANISH HARLEM – As I sit here typing the New York Yankees are losing to the New York Mets 2-0. Max Scherzer is dealing and I’m not surprised by the results – an ultimate 3-2 Mets win… When he is on his game, there are few that can be better. The one game they had to win was on Tuesday but we all know how that turned out. Though I hate losing to the Mets, I’ll live. Now let’s move on to more pressing matters.

Mike Trout’s Back Injury

Buddy Diaz

A bad back took a lot out of my favorite player, Don Mattingly, who I saw be diminished late in his career. To think that this could happen to someone like Trout is scary. We are talking about a generational talent. Someone who stacks up against some of the very best players to ever play the game. Watching him from a distance, you respect that type of talent because its rare when you see a guy with so much talent put it all together.

He was so young when he entered the league and if healthy, will probably break multiple records. That’s why I hope the news of having a rare back injury is an exaggeration. I hope he continues to stay healthy and continues to play and put up the special numbers he is expected to put up. This coming from someone who knows full well how much a back injury can hinder an athlete.

NFL Training Camp

Sure, its early and no teams are practicing with pads but its football! It means we are closer to watching games, though. We are still  living with summer weather but it’s good to think ahead, to when the weather gets a lot cooler  and real games begin. Now is the time when you can dream the big dreams and think that anything is possible (unless your a J-E-T-S fan). Irregardless Regardless… Are you ready for some football? I know I am.

That’s it for now, come back tomorrow for Cam James.
