Giants Draft, Mets Rough Stretch, Knicks/76ers Game 4

HOLBROOK NY- Greetings on what should be another big day of NY sports. Here’s today’s menu: Giants Draft, Mets Rough Stretch, Knicks/76ers Game 4

Giants Draft

The Giants finally have a true number one receiver for the first time since OBJ. While some hoped the Giants would move on from Daniel Jones and select the QB of the future, the G-Men selected Malik Nabers instead. Nabers is as safe a pick as it gets and will immediately become the Giants best offensive player. As for the rest of the draft I’d hoped they would’ve prioritized improving the offensive line, however they opted to improve their depth on defense. I’m still not entirely sure what to expect from this team. I think they’re somewhere in between the nine win team in 2022 and the six win team from 2023. I’m still very worried about this team’s offensive line, however a healthy and hopefully competent Daniel Jones could have this team vying for a wildcard berth.

Mets Rough Stretch

Through the first month of the season the NY Mets have been maybe the up and down team in baseball. They started 0-5, then followed that up by winning 12 of 15, and have since lost five of six to drop back to .500 for the season. The offense just can’t seem to find any sort of consistency and the bullpen is badly beaten up with the latest to go to the injured list Drew Smith. I do think the offense will find its groove soon, Lindor has shown some life, as has Alonso, Nimmo not so much. Things will level out for the Mets and they’ll start playing more consistent baseball. I think they’ve surprised some of us and shown they can be a solid ball club and compete for a wildcard spot.

Knicks/76ers Game 4

The Knicks are in Philly for a pivotal game 4. Joel Embiid was unstoppable in game three scoring 50 and making seemingly every three going 5-7 from behind the arc. The status of Mitchell Robinson for game 4 is very much up in the air after Joel Embiid dragged Robinson to the floor in a play that resulted in a flagrant that probably should’ve resulted in Embiid being ejected. I truly believe the Knicks are the better team in this series, from top to bottom the Knicks are flat out better. However, the 76ers just so happen to have one of the three most dominant players in the NBA in Joel Embiid who even at less then 100% can cover up any and all flaws this 76ers team has. Nevertheless the Knicks now hold a 2-1 and can firmly take back control of the series as it heads back to the Garden for game 5.
