Mets Plunge Continues, Yankees Roll, Knicks Season Recap

Holbrook NY- Happy Memorial Day Weekend to all! Here’s what we’ve got for today. Mets Plunge Continues, Yankees Roll, Knicks Season Recap.

Mets Plunge Continues

I’m not really sure how they do it, but the New York Mets continue to lose games in as excruciating fashion as possible. Edwin Diaz is completely lost. Francisco Lindor is giving up mid-at-bat, and the rest of the team looks lifeless. They’ve now lost five consecutive games, and after Friday’s loss they became just the fifth team in MLB history to hit at least three HR in three straight games and lose every game. The season appears to be over before we even reach June. They now sit 21-30 and just 3.5 games ahead of the last place Marlins.

Yankees Roll

In another universe far, far away from the one the Mets occupy, the Yankees continue to look like one of the best teams in baseball. They’ve won four straight and are now in first place by 3  – games ahead of the Orioles. Aaron Judge is in the midst of maybe one of the hottest stretches we’ve seen in the last decade. In his last 19 games, Judge is batting .426 with a .555 OBP with 11 HR. Truly astonishing stuff.

While looking into Judge’s recent run of dominance, I stumbled across maybe the most incredible stat I’ve ever seen on Twitter. Since April 23rd, Aaron Judge has a .1347 OPS which is over a 30-game stretch. Barry Bonds from August 28, 2000 until May 2, 2006 also maintained an OPS of 1347 which took place over 639 games! Of course, Bonds is perhaps the most famous juicer in the history of the game, but I think it’s about time we admit it’s a bit insane Bonds is not in the Hall of Fame and other known roid users such as Jeff Bagwell, Ivan Rodriguez and one everyone seems to forget, David Ortiz. I can understand the argument from both perspectives, however, picking and choosing which steroid users get in and which don’t doesn’t make any sense to me. Either let them all in, or keep them all out.

Knicks Season Recap

Jacob Sternberg

The Knicks magical run finally came to an end. The mountain of injuries became far too much for them to overcome. It’s really a shame, this team, if healthy, is extremely talented and could’ve gone toe-to toe-with the Celtics. Still, this season should be viewed as an extreme success. Jalen Brunson ascended to superstar status. Hart and Divincenzo emerged as two of the best role players in basketball, and the acquisition of OG Anunoby couldn’t have gone much better. As the Knicks looked toward the offseason their priority must be keeping Anunoby – regardless of the cost. He fits this team perfectly and gives them that extra dimension great teams need.

That’s it for me. Please feel free to add your two cents below and come back tomorrow for Sports Rain Man, Junoir Blaber.
