WHITESTONE, NY – It was over a week ago that Mr. Reginald Martinez Jackson stepped up to the plate and connected for a homer that practically woke up America. His blast was of the verbal kind and he let loose after MLB FOX commentator Alex Rodriguez lobbed him a question on his memories of being back in Birmingham, Alabama.
Jackson played on those grounds in 1967 for the K.C. Athletics AA team. He let loose with his emotions as though it all happened last week. Mr. Jackson detailed his treatment by the rednecks who addressed him as Nigger. Fox executives were caught off guard as there was no five second delay, or bleep button to press on.
The panel of A-Rod, David Ortiz, Derek Jeter, and Kevin Burkhardt were in a state of mute as Reggie told it like it was. It was a history lesson like no other from a man that experienced the ugliness of America at the time. Reggie’s words and emotions opened the eyes and ears of today’s generation, who think they know the meaning of Black Lives Matter.
That pregame segment alone was priceless television and should be up for an Emmy Award. The You Tube views following the real deal statements from a Hall of Famer, who is his own man and far from a talking head, topped millions.
You Tube showed how spineless they are by bleeping out Reggie’s “n*gger” usage. The word came out of Mr. October’s mouth with the impact of a shank going through one’s neck. It showed the true derogatory meaning of a word that is freely used in today’s society thru music and the way youngsters address each other.
Nobody bleeped out that word from those rednecks who taunted the 21-year-old Jackson, so why is You Tube and America so ignorant about the word now? Jackson used it in a way that it sent chills down every viewers gut. It was reality television at its best.
Mr. Reginald Martinez Jackson showed America he still has balls to tell it like it is when he’s not hitting them out of the park. By sharing his experience he woke up the clueless protestors and delusional politicians, who need to stay in bed and dream on.
