STAMFORD, CT – You probably came here to get our take on the Knicks painful loss inspiring win, but I am not gonna stay up late or get up early for that. So, you’ll eat what I’m serving! And today, that’s a light bowl of way-too-early speculation about the Giants’ 2025 win total. Ok fine, what a win. I’ll throw something in about the Knicks too.

Glorious Knicks Win

Going into the playoffs, I really didn’t think the Knicks had performances like last night in them. They showed nothing like that against good teams all season. It’s like turning on Bluey only to find Bandit on a murderous revenge rampage. It’s just not what I expected.

Last night’s win was a thing of beauty, led by the indefatigable Jalen Brunson, with huge contributions from Mikal Bridges, OG Anunoby, KAT, and Mitchell Robinson. The Celtics threatened to pull away just before halftime, with a barrage of threes. But the Knicks hung tough and kept getting off the canvas and clawing their way back. This must have been what Leon Rose envisioned when he might the two big offseason trades for KAT and Bridges.

I feel badly for Jason Tatum, who went down late with what looks to be an Achilles tear, in the midst of an unbelievable performance. That’s life, folks. One minute you’re draining threes from 40-feet out like lay-ups and the next you’re writhing on the floor in a heap of pain.

What seemed like an inevitable matchup in the Eastern Conference Finals of the Celtics vs Cavs, now looks like neither of those teams will make it. Both are down 3-1 and likely missing a star to injury. The Celtics are still dangerous, but it’s hard to see them winning three straight without Tatum. It’s not over yet, but we could be looking at a Knicks Pacers rematch, with the Knicks having the home court advantage. Unbelievable.

I have to say it. That’s why they play the games.

Giants Win Total

When the Giants win total for the 2025 season first came out on ESPN BET, prior to the draft and the Russell Wilson signing, the number was 3.5. Three freaking point five. Man, that level of disrespect is lower than a rattlesnake’s bellybutton.

Well, the number has now moved up to 5.5. When it was 3.5, every single bet was on the over. If I were a betting man, and I am, I would have wagered a few Gold Crowns on the G-Men finding a way to get to four measly wins. Those that got in at that number have to be stoked now that they’ve added a SB winning QB and drafted a stud pass rusher. Let’s not talk about the rook asking for numbers 56 and 11. What a disaster it will be if they don’t get to freaking four wins.

But you know what, I might still like the over at 5.5. There are no easy wins in the division these days, and their schedule is among the toughest. But they should be able to pick up six wins with a legit QB, much improved defense, and a budding superstar WR. Or am I looking with my rose colored May glasses? Probably.

While I don’t want Dart to see the field much in year one, the guy is at least bringing some hope. It’s worrisome that they had no cadence at all at Ol’ Miss when he was there. The snap was always on one clap. Huh? Seems comically simple. My college touch intramural team had a more sophisticated snap count. They never mixed that up?

But the dude has a big arm and sure looks good whipping it around in shorts and no pads. I have no idea if he’ll be good, but he is sure acting like a guy who believes in himself. For what that’s worth. The defense should be a lot better. The d-line should he a major strength with plenty of depth, and they strengthened the secondary aggressively in free agency.

I would have liked for them to have done more for the ever-problematic O-line. They have more depth, but they need Thomas to stay healthy, Neal to successfully transition to guard, and a lot more from John Michael Schmitz to move from “not terrible” to “hey, not bad.” Otherwise, it will again be a weakness, for the 83rd consecutive year.

I’m thinking this looks like a 7-10 team.
