PORT JEFF, NYHappy 4th! We’ve been doing this long enough. Let’s jump in: Kershaw Reaches 3,000 Ks, Knicks New Head Coach, Mets vs Yankees

Kershaw Reaches 3,000 Ks

One of the greatest pitchers of all time achieved an incredible milestone last night, becoming just the 21st pitcher in history to reach this mark. He joins Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander as the only other active starting pitchers to achieve this feat. Kershaw is arguably the greatest left-handed pitcher in history, even though he may no longer be at his peak. In an era where innings limits and pitch counts make such milestones increasingly rare, it is remarkable to witness and appreciate how exceptional and uncommon this achievement truly is.

Knicks New Head Coach

After what felt like ages, the Knicks have finally hired Mike Brown as their new coach. A seasoned NBA coach with experience leading the Cavs, Kings, and Lakers, and working with stars like LeBron and Kobe, Brown is a solid and “safe” choice for the team. He’s expected to enhance the Knicks’ defensive schemes, and with a strengthened bench, the team should gain the depth they sorely missed last season.

Mets vs Yankees

In the return series from the Bronx a few months ago, the Yankees will now head to Queens as both teams aim to get their seasons back on track. Despite recent struggles, both New York teams remain in playoff position if the season ended today. For the Mets, health and consistency are key to breaking out of this rut. With Kodai Senga and Sean Manaea returning to the rotation every fifth day soon enough, the Mets should stabilize. Juan Soto has returned to form after a slow start, Pete Alonso is having an incredible season, and Francisco Lindor, playing through an injury, is bound to turn things around. Plus, the returns of Mark Vientos and Jesse Winker will provide an additional boost.
