Giant Heartbreak, Chiefs Dynasty in Jeopardy, Mets and Tong Bounce Back

PORT JEFF, NY –  No time to mess around. Here’s what we got: Giant Heartbreak, Chiefs Dynasty in Jeopardy, Mets and Tong Bounce Back

Giant Heartbreak.

I’ve been dreading this topic—the New York Giants are 0-2 again. After another loss to the Dallas Cowboys, the Jints find themselves in a familiar hole. Despite one of the best offensive performances since Eli Manning, Russell Wilson threw for 450 yards and three touchdowns, and the offense finally looked like it was supposed to under Brian Daboll.

Wan’Dale Robinson and Malik Nabers each went over 100 yards, and it seemed like the Giants would secure their first win of the season. However, with just 20 seconds left, the Giants’ defense—expected to be a team strength—gave up two big completions by Dak Prescott. Defensive coordinator Shane Bowen played conservatively, allowing the Cowboys to set up Brandon Aubrey for a 64-yard field goal to tie the game as regulation expired. In overtime, both defenses were understandably gassed after 60 grueling minutes. The ultimate undoing came from a boneheaded interception by Russ, who otherwise played a terrific game and gave the Giants every chance to win. The road ahead doesn’t get easier, as a fired-up Chiefs team awaits at MetLife Stadium.

Chiefs’ Dynasty in Jeopardy?

The Chiefs find themselves in a tough spot, sitting at 0-2 just like the Giants, and in a must-win situation. After a narrow 20-17 loss to the Super Bowl champion Eagles, they’re now in last place in the AFC West and desperate for a victory. Xavier Worthy is expected to return this week for their Sunday night matchup against the Giants.

Mets and Tong Bounce Back

After a disastrous outing last week against the Rangers, Rookie RHP Jonah Tong struck out 8 over 5 brilliant innings over a very good Padres team, Juan Soto and Pete Alonso have caught fire in the month of September and have given our metros some reason for optimism as the hunt for October baseball continues.
